« on: July 26, 2014, 10:29:46 AM »
I got a RS 3v 500mA adapter from fleabay....it puts out 3.7 volts and I'd like to tone it down to a straight 3 volts (or maybe a little less).... any easy/cheap fixes?......Thanks

You probably measured the 3.7 with no load on the adapter.  It will drop down toward its rated 3.0 volts when 300 to 500 ma. are drawn by a load.

Yes, when I hooked it to a Davis fan, it dropped to ~3.25 volts. Would still like to get it down to 3 or less.  Thanks

!/4 of a volt on something like a fan is meaningless. I have no idea what the fan spec really are but bet they are something like 5 volts +- 3.

If it really bothers you try putting various  resistors in series with the fan and until you get the drop you want.   I would start at 100 ohm and see what happens.
