Saw similar feature in sky about 10 years ago and was shocked and amazed at what I was seeing. Great picture! I was about 5 miles from home on a bike ride with no camera of course! I researched it then and found an old Weatherwise article with a picture calling it "hole in cloud phoenomena" or something to that effect. See it listed everywhere as '"hole punch", which is a very good description.
