Davis Logging and Meteobridge?
« on: January 19, 2015, 10:48:34 AM »
After about the 5th  12 hour power failure at my remote site, resulting in my Netbook running out of juice/UPS I am planning to convert from Weatherlink to MB.  However, since logging is not used, what can I do about Internet outages?  My current UPS will keep the MB (DIR-505/Cute USB hub) running.  Right now, when the power goes out I have weeks of logged data that WL grabs when the power/net returns.  Any ideas?

I'm running a meteobridge (wr703N nano router) and one of my clone loggers(no usb hub needed). The meteobridge allows me to use weatherlink to download the logger as if it were a WL-ip allowing me to download all the stored data. Is this any help?

I am aware that functionality was added to FW 2.5, but the question I have for you is "downloaded to where?"   Do you keep a PC active 24/7?

No, I just log in occasionally and download the datalogger to my laptop using weatherlink.

The PC part is what I was trying to avoid.  Plus this is a remote system and I don't get there within the archive interval some times.  And my netbook won't accept a WOL magic packet.  About the only thing I could do is use WOSB and pull it out of standby every few months assuming the 2.5 FW using port 22222 works.  Sounds like this is a limitation.  Darn shame MB can't just read the logger memory.

Would a raspberry Pi be able to read the Virtual Vantage stuff?  Store it to an SD card.
