Final update:

The challenge has been running for 9 days, and, between WxForum and Weather-Watch, we raised a total of $900.13! That's a pretty respectable total, and average of $100.01/day.

It must have helped, because at the top of my fundU page today I saw this:

"Thanks to everyone who donated! Your generosity met the fundraising goal!"

So, to everyone here that donated, I thank you from the bottom of my rain gauge.

Special Atta-Boys go out Ocala Dave, who, even without access to this forum, thought it was important enough of a cause that he contacted  me and asked to post the need for funds.

And also to George Richardson, who had the idea to challenge Weather-Watch in fund raising.

Kevin,
I only wish. When you get as old as I am, you have to have the joe full high test to be worth expending the energy to lift the cup.

Glad to see you back on WxForum.

As far as findU, I couldn't have done it without that kick in the seat from you. ;)

There's still work to be done.  The annual hosting fee for next year is covered, but the server debt, I presume, remains.  And a little extra to cover the next server would be OK too.

As I understand it WxForum and Weather-Display are not the only groups who are (or were) helping the funding  of findU.com operations. I have many ham friends who say they have also sent donations to Steve so the total we see here is certainly not the total amount he has received. Not that I am trying to discourage any donation to this worthwhile cause, I just want to make it clear we aren't the only ones helping to fund this effort. Many ham BBSs and forum are doing similar notices about this.

I just signed up for cwops this week, but I feel horrible I have spent my hobby cash for the next two months already. I will still make a donation in another month or so, just to make sure fundu stays active for awhile.
