soil moisture

I am looking for equipment to measure and log soil moisture :grin: I know about Davis soil moisture/temperature/leaf wetness station but don't thing it is a good choice for my purpose because I don't need other sensors and threfore only for one  moisture sensor the overall price of the station is too high :-( Does anyone knows or have tried different solutions :?: Thanks.
