Title: MOBILE Dashboard Ver 1.91 RELEASED
Post by: BurnsvilleWeather on February 13, 2011, 03:21:37 PM
UPDATE:  Version 1.91 is now released to go with Alternative Dashboard Version 6.9x.

UPDATE:  Webster Weather Live is now called Burnsville Weather Live.  All current, past and new script updates will be hosted at the new site.  See message 1 for link!   Thanks!

A NEW Multi-Language capable MOBILE version of the Alternative ajax-dashboard Version 6.81 from Webster Weather Live is now released. This version is built totally on the 6.81 version and requires that you are already running this version on your site to work. This version also requires the NEW Version 3.01 of ajaxWDwx.js that is based off the 9.13 version by Rainer to work!!! (Already part of alt-dashboard V6.81) This MOBILE version of the dashboard uses the Temperature, Current Conditions, Wind, Rain and Several other sections for a Mobile view:

Version 1.02 - 26-Feb-2011
Fixed a problem that could cause a preg_match function error.  Just replace WWL-mobile.php from the archive
Version 1.10 - 01-May-2011
By Request, added short term forecast Icons to bottom of display.  Just replace WWL-mobile.php if upgrading from 1.0x versions
Version 1.20 - 11-Jul-2011
Changed UV to be Icons at both day and night (also if no UV).  Added Solar Icon if you have both UV and Solar.  Added options to select no extended forecast, only one line of extended forecast or all.  Added footnote.  Fixed issue with UV icons not showing for some users (Thanks Jerry)
Version 1.30b - 17-Jul-2011
Added a link to the radar image to a special version of the local radar specially setup for mobile smartphones.
Version 1.32 - 31-Jul-2011
Modifications for UV so values over 11 show correctly now.  Updates to Solar. Fix for error in Android code- thanks Alessandro!
Version 1.50 - 19-Nov-2011
Added support for animated icon set.  Added more language translation abilities.  Just replace WWL-mobile.php from the archive
Version 1.70 - 17-May-2012
Display layout changed.  Added more support for Rain totals.  Minor fixes and updates to match Alternative Dashboard Ver 6.7
Version 1.71 - 15-Sep-2012
Added ability to display the Feels Like and/or Wind Chill/Heat Index under the main tempature like in the alternative Dashboard version 6.71.
Version 1.81 - 17-MAR-2013
 REQUIRES new version 3.01 of ajaxWDwx.js provide with version 6.81 main script.
Requires change to Settings-weather.php from Alternative Dashboard 6.81 to work.
Please read the READ-ME-1ST file in the archive and have already upgraded to Alternative Dashboard V6.81
BEFORE trying to add this version.  Thanks!
Version 1.91 - 11-FEB-2014
PLEASE EDIT FOOTNOTE ABOUT NOT AFFILIATED WITH NWS, I MADE ADDITIONS THERE THAT WILL NOT FIT YOUR SITE!

This one is really so easy to setup, extract the 4 files to your main directory edit php file to add your site name near the top of both .php files, set a couple other settings right below that in both for extended forecast and footnote and create a link to use it and you're done!  How simple is that!!  Please let me know if you see any issues with the display on any smartphone.  It should work well on most all of them!

Then just create a QR code (Bar code for smartphones) so your site's users can get to it from their phone without having to type it in:

(http://www.burnsvilleweatherlive.com/images/BvWL-QR.png)

Instructions to creat that are in the archive.

You can get the download at:

Thanks Scott, that's another great addition..

But I'm really new to smart phones, got mine on Friday. I went to you website http://www.websterweatherlive.com on my phone saw the image. How do I scan it? My choices were to save, view, set as wallpaper or share. Tried view didn't work. What am I doing wrong? :sad:

You need a QR code reader.  It is part of most of the bar code apps for the phones. (You scan the bar code with the phone, you don't do anything with the image itself.)   Once you scan it it should give you the option to open it in a web browser.

I was confused! Looking at your site with FF the QR code doesn't show up. I'm thinking scan what? It does show up ok in IE.  As far as feature request,
it would be nice if you could put indoor temp somewhere, I know its a tight squeeze.

I'm confused why it wouldn't show in FF, its just a JPG image!  (UPDATE: Just downloaded FF and sure enough it don't show!)(Update again:  Found the problem with the image not showing on the menu.. a \ instead of a / in the img tag... FF is so fussy!)

But mine Is showing as full screen which means I have to zoom in, any ideas?

http://www.snoqualmieweather.com/WWL-mobile.php

I think the major part of the problem is, you're using version 5 of alternative dashboard and you need to have version 6.xx running.  Many of the config and code is all from version 6.

I knew it needed version 6 and I changed a few things to get it to work. The size is the only issue Im having on my cell..

You will at least need to change the size of the Current Condition ICON to the smaller size, it's pushing the column too wide.  That could be part of it.

Thanks Todd, best part about this script is, it's really plug and play, drop 3 files in and it's all set to go! (*IF* you already have Version 6.xx running of the alternative dashboard!)

Hi Scott,

Thanks for another great script, but looks like I have this issue for some reason:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function langtransstr() in /home/dwayneya/public_html/wx/WWL-mobile.php on line 330

Take a look at http://www.dwayneyamato.com/wx/WWL-mobile.php (http://www.dwayneyamato.com/wx/WWL-mobile.php) and see what you think.

My main page is at http://www.dwayneyamato.com/wx/index.php (http://www.dwayneyamato.com/wx/index.php)

Main page is working well but it seems something is amiss with something.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Never mind my last post.  Figured it out.  I forgot about the last few lines that we worked on the dashboard with this error.  Man, memory is short nowadays...

Got it working okay now.

Hi Scott,

Yep,  mine is shorter as the days go by.

Another issue,  how do I change the radar image to Hawaii? Or closer to Maui rather than the whole state.

Thanks again for a great script and I got it tested on my Brother-In-Law's Droid X with the "bar code" reader.
See the attached image.

Catch you later,

Stan,

Looks great on my Android EVO!  Love the background effects!   The radar should follow exactly what you chose in the main script for the WU Radar.  That was part of the original Ajax Script from Ken.  Do you use it on your main site?

Hi Scott,

This is what I am using on my index page:

  <img src="http://radblast-mi.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/radar/WUNIDS_map?station=HMO&amp;brand=wui&amp;num=6&amp;delay=50&amp;type=N0R&amp;frame=0&amp;scale=1.000&amp;noclutter=0&amp;t=1220645586&amp;lat=0&amp;lon=0&amp;label=you&amp;showstorms=0&amp;map.x=400&amp;map.y=240&amp;centerx=320&amp;centery=240&amp;transx=-60&amp;transy=-80&amp;showlabels=0&amp;severe=0&amp;rainsnow=1&amp;lightning=1&amp;smooth=1

If this is of any help...

Where do I find $SITE['WUregion'] in the following line, then I think, I will be able to show the Radar in my area?  What do you think???

<img src="http://icons.wunderground.com/data/640x480/<?php echo $SITE['WUregion']; ?>_rd_anim.gif" alt="Regional Radar"

Hi Scott,

Looks like you are right but it does not work outside of the regions that is listed in the following lines in the setup.php script:

$SITE['WUregion']   = 'sw';            // Wunderground regional maps
// 'sw'=SouthWest, 'nw'=NorthWest, 'mw'=Midwest
// 'sp'=South Central, 'ne'=North East, 'se'=South East

I tried to put in 'hi' in place of the 'sw' but no workie.  Know of any other regional maps ID that I could use.  I will have to figure this out later.

Thanks again for your input and support.

Hi Scott,

Looks like you are right but it does not work outside of the regions that is listed in the following lines in the setup.php script:

You should be able to just replace the script line that calls the WU Radar with the exact line you are using on your site now, just set the width and height smaller as I did.  It should work

For the small price of $1,000,000.00 I will send you the missing file!  Hahaha <evil Laugh>...  Actually, there is no mobile2 and that line should have been removed.  It shouldn't hurt anything if it stays in though.  Next update will fix that.

UPDATE:  Beta 0.12 released.

This update adds your site name at the bottom of the display, you now have to edit the script on line 20 to add that site name.

Update also fixes issue with CSS (mobile2.css is called and it should have been mobile3.css).  Should make it play better with different phone types.

Please let me know if it works any better for those that have already tried it.  Thanks

UPDATE:

I've just released the non-beta version of the Mobile Dashboard.  There have been over 50 people testing it and it seems to be working well for most all of them.  I've made a couple changes and formatting changes that people have requested.  I also removed a lot of code that was not needed in the mobile version.  Hope you all like it.  It is probably the easiest mobile version to setup and use if you already have my alternative dashboard running!

Hey Stan,

Didn't work for me. Got a message saying it's a 'text QR code'. It didn't show the http:// in the URL to your mobile page, so it went nowhere (works OK on mine). Looks like not all QR reader apps can handle it that way.

Just FYI...

I just scanned the QR code again, and on mine, it does show the http://www.dwayneyamato.com/wx/WWL-mobile.php full line so I agree, not all bar code readers may be able to read the QR codes correctly.  The format was correct (QR_CODE Type=URL)

Strange. When I hold it up to mine it just snaps the code and goes right to my site without pushing any buttons. Hold it up to Stan's and I get that message.

What reader app are you using?

Didn't work for me. Got a message saying it's a 'text QR code'. It didn't show the http:// in the URL to your mobile page, so it went nowhere (works OK on mine). Looks like not all QR reader apps can handle it that way.

Just FYI...

Likewise, hmmmm, wonder if I should revise my QR code to include that http://  I had it tested with two other persons and they both worked.  Now, Scott, is the third one that I know of that works. Most browsers usually works without the http:// so I wonder if it is the browser on your iPhone might be an issue for some reason or another....

I was just in Costco this evening and saw the new release of the Motorola Zoom Pad.  Looks awesome and the price is also.  Awesome high that is....

Just my thoughts again...

And, thanks again Scott, for testing my QR code...

The only browser on the phone right now is Safari, but that could be the problem. Remember, I just got it! Will look for another one tomorrow.

Already got an email from Verizon about that Zoom Pad. No price mentioned, and I didn't bother going to their site. Just spent enough money there.  #-o

Hi Scott,  Just loaded the newest on my server and come up with this error:

Warning: include(AtomArray.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/k/e/9/ke9lz/html/WWL-mobile.php on line 288

Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening 'AtomArray.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php') in /home/content/k/e/9/ke9lz/html/WWL-mobile.php on line 288

I do not have AtomArray.php on the site and figure since it's looking for it I need it.  Where would I find such a beast?

Steve

Just remove the following code around line 286 of the WWL-mobile.php (or you can search for ATOM Alert on the weather-display forum)

Code: [Select]
<?php
echo "\n<!-- AtomFeed Alert Box-->";
include(
"AtomArray.php");
print
$alert_box;
echo
"\n<!-- end AtomFeed Alert Box-->\n";
?>

Scott,

I uploaded the file you sent and still have the same problem. I also noticed that De Pere Weather has the same problem.

Then I did a little digging with no luck on the WWL-mobile.php file and no luck. I did notice that if I just pull up the ajax-dashboard6.php page I get the same issue but doesn't show on the regular home page. Could it be something I did somewhere else?

Here's the example: http://gigharborweather.com/ajax-dashboard6.php

Brian,

I ran the code through the validator and did find a large number of other errors in your code, I'm not sure why that would cause the preg_match issue though.  I'm by no means an expert in php or java (I just dabble) but the code is almost exactly the same as the alt-dashboard version 6 with the addition of a few line and some different css.  When I validated your code there were a lot of errors in the code that I don't see in the original.  Did you modify the file WWL-mobile.php?  If so can you zip up the file and send it to me?

Scott,
I didn't realize there was a problem with my ajax-dashboard6 as it works in the template but not as a stand alone.  I looked it over and found the error was not in ver 6.07.  If you look at http://depereweather.com/ajax-dashboard.php which is 6.07 and http://depereweather.com/ajax-dashboard6.php which is 6.08 you will see for yourself.  Looks like it has something to do with the new wetbulb addition to the freezing point.

Brian, thanks for pointing it out as I was unaware of it.

I just installed a QR code on my De Pere site ( http://depereweather.com ) and was wondering if someone could check to make sure it works.  I have been able to see it work with my blackberry and figure it should work with others but wanted to know for sure.  Next thing to do is install the Atom script to make the mobile page complete.

Thanks Scott for the cool scripts!

Hi Bob,

I am having the same issue.

The weather warning and advisory page for the Mobile Page is located at about lines 288 --> 293 for version 1.02.

I have to still figure it all out since it is not updating my AtomArray.php file either, for some reason.  May just have to invoke it and see what happens.

I wonder if the scrip below would work in replacing those line above.  Any thoughts, Scott??

//
$useTopWarning = false;  // set to true to use only the rss-top-warning script
//                         set to false to use the rss-advisory script instead

<?php // insert desired warning box at top of page
  if ($useTopWarning) {
   @include_once("rss-top-warning.php");
  } else {
   print "      <div class=\"advisoryBox\">\n";
   $_REQUEST['inc'] = 'y';
   $_REQUEST['summary'] = 'Y';
   @include_once("rss-advisory.php");
   print "      </div>\n";
  }
?>

Or will this work by changing the include to include_once in this area?

<?php
echo "\n<!-- AtomFeed Alert Box-->";
include_once("AtomArray.php");
print $alert_box;
echo "\n<!-- end AtomFeed Alert Box-->\n";
?>

Hi Bob,

Answer is yes and no.  Yes for a response from Scott and No to my change to this script yet.  If if do a manual invoking the AtomArray.php, the Warnings and Advisories shows on the top of the page. I did add that "_once" in the script but that did not work so I changed it back to where it was. I don't know why that portion of the script does not seem to work yet.

Hi Jerry,

I have been playing around with this also.  Interesting projects being done by Scott that piggy backs the Dashboard for mobile phones.

Bob,

I specifically used the same code as in the Ajax-Dashboard6.php so that there would be no extra configuration.  If you get it working on the main dashboard page it will function the same on the mobile page.  If you choose to use a different version of alerts, you will have to replace the code on the mobile dashboard as Stan indicated and again, if you get it working first in Version 6.xx dashboard, it will work exactly the same on Mobile.  Thats the advantage of the script.

Scott

PS: Sorry, I missed your message when I first checked today!

Today there is no advisories etc.

Let me know what I am doing wrong. I appreciate your help and the great scripts you have provided. =D&gt;

You are using a different Atoms alert then what I have in the Mobile.  You will need to replace the code in Mobile with the code you have in your dashboard.  The version I am using can be found here:

I updated the instructions to include some help with that but you can find the code to replace starting at line #288 to 293. Replace that with whatever you choose to use.  That will take care of the problem!

However, I did discover one thing. Not sure if this might be causing problems for anybody, but...

<link rel="stylesheet" href="mobile3.css" type="text/css" media="only screen and (min-device-width:768px) and (min-divice-height:768px)" />

Shouldn't that last item be device-height?

UPDATE NOTICE:

By request, I added in the short term forecast Icons at the bottom of the display.  There is no other reason to upgrade then to add that.  Just replace the WWL-mobile.php file if you are upgrading from a 1.0x version.  Download link in first message of this thread!

Hi User3162,

I see that you did the update to the latest version and it seems to be working on my FF 4.0.1 browser.

Scott,

Thanks for the update and hope all is well with you over there in the Midwest.  Lots of storms around and about.

Keep safe.

Scott,

Love the new addition.

I've been seeing others and I having problems with the "Weather Forecast" section (table) not fitting correctly in IOS (to narrow).  I tried looking at the issue and it seems that if you don't have $haveUV & $haveSolar the top table is much wider that the table created for  "Weather Forecast" section.  Shouldn't the entire page be enclosed in a single table?

I would appreciate it greatly if you could look into this irritating issue.

Thanks,

BTW- checking the new and old php builds via "W3C Markup Validation" there are 2 errors (these are actual lines in the php file):
          Line   36: missing the open quote on mobile.css
          Line 638: document type does not allow element "table" here
                         <table width="10%" border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1">

Thanks a ton.  Been fighting with that since v1.02 and could never figure it out with my limited php/html skills..  As I said I think it's in the <table> and that "W3C Markup Validation" error might be the cause.

I have version 1.20 ready to test.  The new version uses the icons for UV on the forecast and uses the Solar Index Icon if you have both UV and Solar.  If someone wants to see it, scan the bar code on my main page at

www.websterweatherlive.com (http://www.websterweatherlive.com)

Contact me for a link to the beta of version 1.2 ONLY if you had problems with the previous version in the UV section as that is the only thing that has changed and I want to have a couple people check that first before it is released.  Thanks

Looks good on my iPhone Simulator (jpq) attached and my iPhone and iPad. Can you an option to how many Forecast ICONs to display 4 or all (as alternate dashboard only displays 7)?

Not sure how this version will look with us that don't have UV &/or Solar sensors on our Weather Station; however I'll be more than happy to try it out on my site if you send or point me to the v1.20 beta code.  My AltAjaxDashboardConfig6.php setting are "$useET = false" and "$useBCH = true".

Version 1.20 of Mobile Dashboard now also includes the ability to turn off the extended forecast, or make it just 1 line of 4 icons, or two lines of 7 total icons.  I have also added a footnote that you can customize to what ever you want it to say.  I will probably post it for downloading tomorrow if the tests go ok tonight.

Version 1.20 has been released!! 11-Jul-2011

Link to download is in the first message of this thread.  You just need to replace your WWL=mobile.php file to upgrade.  You will however need to edit that file starting at line 28 for your site name and three other options right below that.

For those of you that use your Mobile Dashboard a lot and find yourself still looking for more radar options, I may have a solution!  I've added the WU radar page to the dashboard.  Click on the radar on the main page and bring up the local radar page in a mobile window.

Let me know what you think of this idea and if it works on your mobile phone.  It seems to work well for me on my Android EVO 4G.  If it seems like something people want, I'll release it too.

www.websterweatherlive.com (http://www.websterweatherlive.com) scan the barcode to get to the mobile page!

I doubt if anyone there realize that there's at least one person here that see's this 'dashboard' post often and think's 'I have no idea what they are talking about and doubt is has anything to do with cars'.

Many Happy Dashboard's to everyone,

LOL, well I guess I'll have to look into cleaning up the code and putting it up!   :shock:

See. That's what ya get for offering. Now - get busy...   :roll:

While I'm at it, a request. Could the info in the second UV cell ("Highest UV...") be merged into the first cell ("At UV of..."), and the then empty second cell contain the Current Solar Energy info?

Thanks.

Didn't see the request in time... I will want to play around with that a bit so that there is something to display if no solar sensor is being used.  I'll put it on the list.

Scott,

Re: v1.30...

Noticed this around line 655 or so in mobile.php...

<a href="http://www.websterweatherlive.com/WWL-MobileRadar.php" target="_blank"><img src="http://icons.wunderground.com/data/640x480/...

Shouldn't that point to my site and not yours? Or should I just take another nap?

Also, my main screen currently shows 9 Solar - on the mobile screen it's showing 1.
Missing Rec* High and Low boxes, and *Records from... text.

Edit: Solar just corrected itself, but it took a good 15 minutes or so for it to show correctly. UV was OK.

Thanks.

Actually, Scott, I think you can just go with:
Code: [Select]
<a href="./WWL-MobileRadar.php" target="_blank"><img src="http://icons.wunderground.com/data/640x480/<?php echo $SITE['WUregion']; ?>_rd_anim.gif" alt="Regional Radar" width="154" height="118" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: none" /></a>
in your source and be done with.  It works on my site, but I can't guarantee it'll work everywhere.

Many Thanks!

Hey Jerry (and Scott),

That works perfectly, and how I updated it last night after I downloaded 1.30 and noticed MN radar :-).

You can actually pass functions for WU-Radar after that url.  If you like animated to be turned on by default, as my wife does, all you need to add is Animated=ON with:
Code: [Select]
<a href="./WWL-MobileRadar.php?animated=1>If you want a different zoom (instead of the default #3), you can add:
Code: [Select]
&mode=2 before the close ">" greater than symbol (valid values are 1-5).

Other parameters that can be passed are to "WU-radar-inc.php" are:
Code: [Select]
&advisories=1&track=1&lightning=1for Advisories=ON, Track=ON and/or Lightning=ON

You have my permission to be my spokesman today, Jerry.  Thanks to you as well for your excellent tips.

One more slight change to suggest, Scott.  Instead of '(Click for more)', which isn't how we do it on our finger-pointy thingies, I've changed my Mobile Dashboard to read '(Tap for More)'...just sayin'.

Scott, does your radar animate on your EVO 4G?  Mine doesn't, and I'm wondering if there's a setting I'm missing somewhere.  I just tried the radar on your site and it doesn't animate for me either.  Update:  It's a browser issue with the EVO 4G.  I just installed Firefox mobile, and it animates just fine.  Found the setting to make my WWL-mobile page Firefox's home page and it opens up just fine.  Firefox's display of the radar is also much cleaner and more versatile!

Since I don't have 2 years of data I'm getting some weird record numbers.  For me only showing the WU records would be preferable.  Maybe there could be a option to show WU records only or both?   I could also go in and rip out the code for showing station records.

Not sure if your aware (probably not since you have a Droid) that the WWL-MobileRadar.php screen header and footer are a bit narrow on IOS devices.  Attached is a full screenshot (using iPhone simulator) of your site :-)

I see that, I'm not sure why it won't allow the image to float and use the size of the page instead like the driods do.  I'll have to do some research and see if there is a way around this.

Scott,

On the radar header and footer problem, I made the following change to the radar script...

<meta name ="viewport" content ="width = 640" />

This is a bump up from the original setting of 320. Both header and footer are now looking as they should on my iPhone, but I have no way of knowing what things might look like on other devices. If somebody could check that out I'd appreciate it. QR code attached.

Thanks.

Yes, that would work but would make the whole page scroll left and right, the idea was just the radar image was supposed to.  It should work with the page size at 320 like it's supposed to be, not sure why it doesn't.

Well, not to argue, but my page does not scroll left/right, at least on my iPhone 4. Nothing has changed except the header/footer 'fit'.

Yup, I checked it out on my droid EVO, looks fine but the image is shrunk down quite a bit in over to let it fit.  (I thought it would leave the image the same size and just make the whole thing shift.).  That would be a good fix for those that use the IPhone.  Maybe it can be done just for the IPhone?  Hmmm

Not sure this is the total problem but you are missing a ";" and that could be part of the problem.  The error is:

Code: [Select]
Webpage error details

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E)

Message: Expected ';'
Line: 263
Char: 13

Fix that first then if it still isn't working send me your modified code so I can take a look as it is working in it's unmodified format with the new code from Ken.

I tried your file in my setting and it works fine.  That leads me to believe that something in the one of the other files is causing the error.  (you can see your file on my site at:  http://www.websterweatherlive.com/WWL-mobile2.php (http://www.websterweatherlive.com/WWL-mobile2.php))

Some java item is likely not quite right and is causing the java in the dashboard to not work at all.  That is surprising though since it does work in the regular dashboard.  Are you using the exact same include files in both?

My only other thought is to replace the include files one at a time to find which one is causing the ajax to stop working, then we can look at the file and see what is causing it.

Modifications for UV so values over 11 show correctly now.  Updates to Solar. This is a minor update that just needs the main .php file replaced.  Don't forget to change the settings at the top of the file before you go live though!

The download link is in the first message of this thread!

Unfortunately i have had no lucky with replacing the include files because i haven't made a backup for those files....

Post by: jgillett on July 30, 2011, 05:54:59 PM
Hi Scott,

DW is indicating a syntax error with v1.31. This is straight out of the box, before I have made any changes...

function androidSS() {
    if (navigator.userAgent.match(/Android/i)); {
        val fileref = document.createElement("link");
        fileref.setAttribute("rel","stylesheet");
        fileref.setAttribute("type","text/css");
        fileref.setAttribute("href","mobile3.css");
        document.getElementByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(fileref);
    }

It's calling out the val fileref = document.createElement("link"); line. I realize it doesn't have to be there, but I can't find anything else wrong anywhere. The app appears to work fine (of course).

Just noticed it was also calling out the same error in v1.30b. Adding the missing '"' in the first stylesheet statement, which you fixed in v1.31, made no difference.

Also, the forecast tables at the bottom of the page, and the footer, are not quite full width on my iPhone4.

Apologies for the 'picky picky'!

Thanks, as always, for your great work.

I'm not sure, will have to look later tonight or tomorrow but I thing the metric/imperial switching is a function of the js and if that is not working, it would not be able to do the switching.  I could be wrong, I'm not near the code at the moment.

Scott

Hi Scott,
thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately i have had no lucky with replacing the include files because i haven't made a backup for those files....
....but i've found a clue  :-)
I've seen that it doesn't work the Metric / Imperial switch.....which files causing this process?
Finding this file probably fix the issue  :grin:
Once again thanks,

Alessandro

What is DW?  Can you give me the error message too?

Scott

Hi Scott,

DW is indicating a syntax error with v1.31. This is straight out of the box, before I have made any changes...

function androidSS() {
    if (navigator.userAgent.match(/Android/i)); {
        val fileref = document.createElement("link");
        fileref.setAttribute("rel","stylesheet");
        fileref.setAttribute("type","text/css");
        fileref.setAttribute("href","mobile3.css");
        document.getElementByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(fileref);
    }

It's calling out the val fileref = document.createElement("link"); line. I realize it doesn't have to be there, but I can't find anything else wrong anywhere. The app appears to work fine (of course).

What is DW?  Can you give me the error message too?

DW = Dreamweaver.

As for the message, it's just that - a syntax error has been detected at line 69. Will be different in your copy, of course. As you know, error messages do not always point to the line that's really causing the error.

Thanks.

Yes, I see that too now, my program (I use NetBeans) says it's missing a ";" before the val but that doesn't make much sense to me.  Worse part is, nothing has changed in that part of the code since the beginning.  Anyone have any ideas?

Scott and Alessandro,

Removing the 'val' from that statement also removed the syntax error for me. The app is still working fine - except...

Here's the real kicker. The forecast tables at the bottom of the page and the footer are now full screen width on my iPhone 4!

Thanks!

Hi Scott,
finally i've found the file that causing the stopping LIVE update in the ajax-dashboard  \:D/ \:D/
The file is top.php new version because the old top.php works ok.
At the moment, I don't know which part of code causing the issue but i'm sure that Ken (or you Scott  :grin: ) will find the problem in a few time.
I've attached the two versions of top.php.
I've also left the same msg in weather-watch forum.

Hi Scott,
please, could you update this script too to able with the animated images by Meteotreviglio.com?
Thanks in advance,

Alessandro

Edit 05/10: I'm confirmed that WWL mobile script isn't compatible with animated script of meteotreviglio.com.
I've installed the new ken's parser but the icons remains with .jpg extensions. (intead of .gif)

Edit 08/10: Scott, all it's ok with latest plaintext-parser.

Not sure what you mean, I looked at your site and all is showing rain!  I did notice that you are missing several tags though, you may want to update your Testtags.txt to the latest revision from KEN (version 1.07 I believe) and then be sure to add the additional tags I supply in the archive to the bottom of the file too.

I see it now.  The snow icon is triggured by a setting, you are likely using metric and the setting for "snow unit of measure" is IN for inches.  You need to change the $uomSnow to "cm" in the top part of the script in both the mobile and alternative dashboard.  That will fix the problem in both.

Version 1.50 is now available to match the changes made to the alternative dashboard version 6.51.  If you are updating, you should just replace WWL-mobile.php file.  I've added more language translations and the ability to support the animated icons.  Some other minor changes/fixes.

Download link is in the first message of this thread.

Glad it's up and working so far.  My feedback locally here has been very good too!  Wasn't sure if the Solar code would function on all mobile devices so I left it off for now.  If you think it's a go, I'll perhaps do a beta for each mobile type and see if there are any issues.

I've only tested it on my Android devices (HTC EVO 4G, ASUS Transformer 101, Amazon Kindle Fire), and it works OK.  The code should function everywhere JavaScript and AJAX are supported, but testing is probably an excellent idea before issuing an update.

Yes, would be the best way to go about it.  If anyone has iPhone, blackberry, windoz smartphones if they can chime in, I'll add the extra code to the mobile too! It is getting a bit big though, this may have to be the last major change!

What would I need to do run this with Ken's (Saratoga) scripts/templates?  I like his dashboard, so I'd rather not switch to the alt dashboard if possible.  I'm using WeatherLink and NOT WD if that matters.  I've tried running this with his dashboard and most everything is working except for...

1. Record High/Low from WU is blank
2. No wind rose graphic (the green arrow is there, but not the background image)
3. The temp is currently in the upper 60s but the snowflake image is showing and "Snow³" is in the box above 0.00 in
4. When I click on the radar, the page switches, but I don't have "AtomArray.php" so I get 2 errors at the top of the radar page. the radar is also huge.

Thanks,
Roger

I don't think it's possible to get all the tags needed to run the Mobile Dashboard without using WD.  If you can produce the readings that are required you would have to somehow manually map those values to the correct tags to make it work.  All those are automatic from WD.

Thanks, Scott.

I looked at your radar page with my phone and the footer is centerized just like on mine.  Can you send me a photo of the image you get?  Is it specific to a phone type?

Got it.  I'll have see if there are any updated routines that work better with the iPhone.    It is just the way it's detecting the maximum screen resolution on your device.

UPDATE:

For consistency, I've updated the radar script to mach the version number of the main script.  There is no other change.  If you want them both to match, the new archive has the update in it!

Any chance of in a future update, that warnings can show at the top of the screen?  I have warnings (statements) in my area today, and noticed they do not show in the mobile version.

Stan,

I did not remove them, you may be using a different version then I am though.  You may have to add in the code for the alerts in replacement of what is in the script now.

on the same note, there are no alerts appearing on my mobile script either. They did work at one time but after updating to the latest they show nothing...I'm off tomorrow and will look around to see if I missed a setting?

Hi,

Just updated to 1.90 mobile dashboard along with 6.92 alternate dashboard. All is working well with the exception of the radar page in the mobile dashboard. When I click on the radar picture it goes to the correct radar but when I click on go to the full site button on the bottom of the page it returns me to the same page. The same button on the mobile alternate dashboard page does take me to my full site. Did I miss a setting?

0 and 1 are in the first section and always displayed,
2-5 are in the first optional row (enabled by setting $useFIL1 in mobile config)
6-8 are in the second optional row. (enabled by setting $useFIL2)

You are correct, the button on the radar page should bring you back to the MAIN site (not the mobile site).  The radar page should span a new browser page so you just close it to return to the first mobile page.  However, the "show Full Site" button is just reloading the same page.  I'll get that fixed.

Version 1.91 is now released.  This minor update fixes the link in the radar page back to the main site and fixes the Station Starting date display on the main mobile dashboard page.  Remember to change the footnote at the top of each of the two .php files to reflect your wording!

I have 1.91 installed and it seems to be running good. I did notice that "No warnings, watches, or advisories  " alert box it not updating. You Can see it at http://www.johnsnhweather.com/WWL-mobile.php

You are likely using a different alert box method then I am.  Copy and paste the alert box code from your index.php file into the mobile code and you'll be good to go!

Hi Scott,

Have read the other posts but 'think' this might be different.

Am currently showing 5 Fire Weather Watch warnings on the main page, listed by county name. On the mobile main page it shows only one 'Fire Weather Watch', but no county names. Tapping that brings up a page with 5 warnings, but they are listed by county code rather than name; e.g., AZC003 rather than Cochise County. Tapping that goes to the actual alert page where the alert extends completely off the right side of the screen.

Thoughts appreciated.

Not sure but I think this would be because your main code is different then the one I'm using to show the warnings in mine.  I suggest removing the code for the warnings out of mine and adding in your code.
