I have been playing with a technique that I saw (stole...
) from WeatherNationTV. They did this to one of my panorama time lapses. I have always been bothered by the black screen above and below my 3 cam panoramas. This dead space is unavoidable because after they are stitched, the image is 360x1920. I have been experimenting with creating an active opaque background from the center video. This is very subtle, but it seems to add something to the viewing experience.
I start with the 3 videos that are sequentially aligned with each other. In my video editor I create 4 video tracks. The first track I insert the middle cam time lapse (1920x1080) and set the opacity to around 50%, depending on the video. The 2nd track Cam1 (left cam) is shifted 640 pixels to the left and 360x640. Third track is Cam2, centered and 360x640. The 4th track is shifted right 640 pixels and 360x640. Track 1 then becomes an opaque, full screen background to the panorama video.
