Rain gauge to build my own station
« on: March 23, 2017, 12:52:37 PM »
Hello !

I'm new here, and I would like to share a situation I face.
I look for a good rain gauge to build my own weather station.
I would like something with a 0.2 or 0.25mm resolution.

So I had a look to the davis 7852, ultimeter (pro or tipping bucket) or rainwise rainew 111.
Those can be found at around 65-75$ in USA but here (I am in Europe), it's always more than 100€...

This market is crazy, I found many similar or copy or rebranded rain gauge at 300, 500, 1000€.  (last one was a black and wired version of the oregon PCR800  at 700€ !!! I'm not sure for inside, but ouside is exactly identical to PCR800)

So, if someone has a suggestion to get a nice rain gauge at around 50€, I would be happy to discuss !

Best regards,

I have spare parts.  Cones/funnels and tipping buckets parts that maybe you can build your own rain gauge.  I'll post pictures of some pieces .
Al Washington, Lexington, Ga.,  NWS Coop station=LXTG1, Fischer Porter, SRG, MMTS.
CoCoRaHS=GA-OG-1. CWOP=CW2074.  Davis VP2+ WLIP 5.9.2, VP(original) serial, VWS v15.00 p02. ImageSalsa, Win7 & Win8 all-in-one.
