Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I POE/Range issues
« on: November 28, 2015, 01:18:31 AM »
Hello folks,
Having problems with the above mentioned camera on a 100' run. Everything was working fine on a short (10') cable.

When I hooked it up to a 100' cable, it cuts in and out and will only give me about 3 seconds of video before dropping.

I'm using a TP-LINK TL-PoE150S Gigabit PoE Injector Adapter, IEEE 802.3af compliant, Up to 100 meters (328 Feet)
http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-PoE150S-Gigabit-Injector-compliant/dp/B001PS9E5I/

Connected to JEFA Tech Outdoor Shielded Cat5e Assembly - TOUGHCable Connectors - 100 feet

Any thoughts?

It sounds like a voltage drop problem, can you increase the injection voltage to compensate for the cable loss.

Turns out with some additional troubleshooting today, that it was a problem with the wireless bridge.  I've gotten it straightened out.

Could you tell us a little more about what the problem was and how you fixed it?

Near as I could tell, somehow the bridge and the camera wound up with the same IP address.  I assigned the bridge a different, unique address and all is well.

I've since registered with HiDDNS and forwarded the ports to allow me to view the image remotely and via my phone.  That has been successful.

I've also configured the camera to upload to WU via the in camera FTP server. While it registers success with the TEST button, it has yet to produced anything on the WU site.  It's my understanding that that could lag a couple of day though for some reason.

SpartanWX,

I have the same POE injector and Hikvison camera has arrived today, the power into the injector is 48v and the camera requires 12v, the data sheet says the injector auto determines power use.

Did you need to do any configuration to the injector, or simply plugging the camera through the injector, the injector limited 48v to the correct voltage?

I'm a tad nervous to plug a 12v camera into a 48v powered unit, its an age thing :-)

Thanks SpartanWX will do, I didn't realise that 48v goes in, I thought it was the voltage you wanted, hence my comment a few posts back about volt drop

PaulMy cheers for the reassurance, its come together just in time for me to play with over the festive break

There are older POE devices that use a fixed voltage. While the devices that meet the IEEE 802.3af spec negotiate the voltage supplied by the injector to meet their requirements.
