COM port issue with Envoy8X and USB data logger
« on: July 16, 2013, 09:19:29 PM »
Hello,

I have been trying to configure my ISSs with an Envoy8X through WTDU but never could get it to work.
When I open WTDU I get an error message : "No COM port found on this computer. Did you install a virtual COM port driver ?"  And then when I try to set the communication port, none appears in the "COM" window. When I looked into WTDU help, they say to check that the drivers are installed: I found these two SiLib.sys and SiUSBXp.sys
Do I need another driver ?
I have been trying to find virtual COM port driver for Davis instruments online, and found one on this page http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx   but I could not install it, because "the device driver installation wizard was unable to find any drivers designed for your machine".
Has anyone an idea about what else I can do ?
This is an urgent matter and Davis support is apparently too busy these days to answer my emails and I cannot call them as I am in the Philippines with no possibility to give international calls, so I really hope someone here can help me !

If I remember correctly, there is a utility in a sub-folder of the drivers called CP210X USB to Serial Converter.exe that will fix this issue.
Check the  \WeatherDTU\Drivers\Utilities folder.

It worked, thank you so much for this quick answer !
I cannot believe that they would not mention that in the help section.

the USB data logger defaults to that mode
until you select to use USB instead of serial in weatherlink software
