Cam on WeatherCloud
« on: November 09, 2018, 04:19:17 PM »
My Cam is currently on Wunderground.
https://www.wunderground.com/webcams/WU_2302133/2/show.html
They give you URL in order to publish your cam on other websites.
I copied the link into my Weather Cloud account but nothing appears. Anyone else tried this?Could this be a time related issue?
Any ideas / help appreciated
Station on Weather Cloud is Sherman 11

Which WeatherCloud plan are you on? Free, Pro, or Business?

I'm on the Free plan and I don't see any way to link a webcam.
I figured it out see next post.

Free, just signed up when I got my WS-2902A.
Settings/Edit Gallery. It gives you the option for up to 5 pictures and 5 webcam links

UPDATE: I was able to just now add a webcam ...I had never bothered before. Worked instantly.
I used my own URL and also used Weather Underground direct link...both worked.

  • Go to Devices
  • Settings Drop down for station
  • Select Edit Gallery
  • Add Webcams link
  • Enter in URL for camera http or https address (FTP does not work, it must be a published website)
  • Save

Thanks for trying that out. I guess you took the link that Wu gives you when you view your own cam?
That’s what I did, but no joy.
I’ll hack around a bit, I must be doing something wrong if it works for you.
Thanks again

Still not working, Argh
Q, When you add the URL from WU is it for the Cam web page URL or the URL they give you for the time lapse video.
I have tried both, none of them work for me. I tried using publicly available URL's and still no joy, so it has to be something on my end.
Could you do me a favor and try these URLs in your weather cloud and let me know if they work

Thanks

Those links are no good as they aren't pure image links. Those are rendered full web pages with all kinds of stuff.

What you have to do is...
Right click on the image and copy the image link.

It will look similar to this:
https://icons.wunderground.com/webcamramdisk/w/u/WU_2302133/2/current.jpg?1541809844

Then you edit and erase everything after the .jpg because I think that refers to a moment in time instead of latest. So the resulting link looks like this:
https://icons.wunderground.com/webcamramdisk/w/u/WU_2302133/2/current.jpg

And that is a valid image link.
