WeatherCloud / Re: Advanced posting to Twitter (X) on paid plans
« Last post by ConligWX on April 14, 2024, 03:21:48 PM »
Sorry for the belated reply.

I process a file with webtags to create the line I want to be posted in  mastadon.  I then use "toot"  a mastadib CLI client to post the file to my mastodon account.  i also use one to post forecasts too.  all using cronjobs from my weather station that's running Ubuntu.

When you went into WSView + , was the GW1100 visible at all, or was it visible, but with no sensors?

Sorry if this has been asked before

Some sensors are onboard the GW1100 / exactly what is not showing in  WSView +.
: the GW's temperature and pressure sensors were also disconnected, all sensors are not showing in WSView+.

When you say sensors, what sensors do you have? :
wh40/wh41/wh45/wh57/wh31ep/wh32ep/wn32p/wh31(8/wh51(3)/wh35/wn30(4)/wn34s/ws68/

thx

having the GW1100 connected too close to a computer, transformer (power supply) etc. - make sure you have an about 1 m (or more) USB cable between the transformer/"charger" and the GW1100 : yes, that's the case right next to my computer
- is there a reason why the GW1100 is in a different place than the HP25x0 console ? : yes, the GW1100 sits in my office, and the HP2550 is installed at the entrance to the house.

I've just followed your instructions: move the GW away from the computer and transformer.
Place the GW in line of sight of the sensors.
I'll keep you informed if the problem continues.
I haven't had a disconnection for 2 years.
Thank you very much for your analysis and your patience.

Of course, if you live closer to sea level (say below 500-1000 feet) then differences will be minimal between different methods of correcting pressure to sea level. it’s only if you live at relatively extreme elevations that it becomes an issue.

What I'm gathering, is that Barometric Pressure readings can be all over the place for accuracy, and for the home weather enthusiast, it's kind of an afterthought.  Even the NOAA reports generated by a lot of software doesn't include it.  So it you're equipment is at least following the rise and fall of the reference reading, you should be happy. In the case of my station below, I am at 61% according to CWOP.

Added a website camera for a (3) shield comparison between the MMTS, Davis 7714 along with the DIY FARS which is the primary thermometer in real-time. If you want to compare, the camera link updates every 1-minute.  Yesterday the Miller Field ASOS set a record high 91, both the FARS and Davis 7714 matched while the MMTS with the Nimbus was cooler at 89°.
May only do this for a while, normally just have the Nimbus on the camera. I thought some of the other weather enthusiast may be interested. The MMTS appears to be running cool during the daytime, it was running about the same during our winter temps, but now running cooler. Haven't had a day when it's calm, today may be one of the less windy days, sub 20 mph anyway.

The camera link is: https://www.valentinenebraska.net/camera.php    The FARS is far right, 7714 middle.

I do have a question for the OP.

When you say sensors, what sensors do you have?

Some sensors are onboard the GW1100 , unless you have sensors that replace their functionality. So I think we need to know what sensors you have, and exactly what is not showing in  WSView +.

To make it simple: can you see live data of the GW1100 via WS Vew Plus ? No
Gw1100 is upstairs, hp2550 is on the first floor .
Thx
OK - then it's clear now - just for the book: your first reply to the same question was the opposite..

Then the reception issues can be caused by several things:
- EMI - electromagnetic interference (created by all types of appliances)
- an unstable power supply (try to change the power supply)
- having the GW1100 connected too close to a computer, transformer (power supply) etc. - make sure you have an about 1 m (or more) USB cable between the transformer/"charger" and the GW1100
- the position - try bringing the GW1100 into a line of sight with the sensor(s)/sensor array (glass [window] has less attenuation than a wall)
- is there a reason why the GW1100 is in a different place than the HP25x0 console ?
try putting it close (not too close but close) to the HP25x0 console and observe if the reception still drops)

Thankful I came here to find this old post. Swapped batteries and for the life of me, couldn't figure out the blank screen after. Thank you so much for this fix! There's no way my simple brain could have known to do the ribbon R&R.
