I own a disaster restoration company and I would like to watch the weather more closely this winter.  I would like to know if there is a good semi professional weather station out there for somewhere in the line of $500 to $1000 give or take.  I would preferably like to have one that can mount to the top of my house or garage.  thanks all and have a great weekend in advance.

A Davis 6163 with a data logger and Virtual Weather Station software comes to a total of $994 ( Ambient low price quote) would meet your needs. There are several mounting options, but in your business you probably have access to  plenty of material that you can recycle into a sturdy mount.

Either the Davis Vantage Pro or Vantage Vue are really good.

I agree with Tom.  I have a Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus.  I started with a Lacrosse and threw it out after a couple of weeks.  I used a Davis Vantage Pro (original) until the VP2 became available.  The old system is my backup and still works.  The Davis VP is modular and you can purchase the functions you need.  Tom gave you a price, note that Ambient doesn't publish their low prices; you have to ask for their unpublished prices.
I also own Rainwise, Acurite, Peet Bros, and others.

CoCoRaHS=GA-OG-1. CWOP=CW2074.  Davis VP2+ WLIP 5.9.2, VP(original) serial, VWS v15.00 p02. ImageSalsa, Win7 & Win8 all-in-one.
