RJ-45 Connectors for Cat5e
« on: January 10, 2012, 02:48:21 PM »
I would like to build some cat 5e cables with RJ-45 connectors to install a 8 port switch. Question: Which configuration do I use 568-A or 568-B? It appears the Belkin ethernet cables I have are configured to the 568-B.

All the ones we use are "B".

As long as both ends of any one cable are the same, it doesn't really matter.  Pick one and stay with it for consistency and simplicity.

The only difference is the green pair is split in one and the orange pair is split in the other.

WH/GR  GR/WH  WH/OG  WH/BL  BL/WH  OG/WH  WH/BN  BN/WH

WH/OG  OG/WH  WH/GR  WH/BL  BL/WH  GR/WH  WH/BN  BN/WH

I don't really even remember which is A or B, but I always try to use the first one above, Green together, Split the Orange.

As long as they are the same at both ends, it does not matter.
