CWOP data not posting
« on: January 18, 2019, 09:46:59 AM »
Hi: my PWS was off-line from December 18th until January 8th due to an equipment failure.  I have been reporting my weather consistently since then and my system shows delivery of PWS weather data to CWOP consistently since then too.  However no weather data is shown on my page.  The following is the message posted:

APRS Status
No data has been seen recently. Please check at findu.com to see if your data is being seen there.
Weather data was seen at findu.com around 28 days ago on 2018-12-18.

Is there something that must be done to re-activate since I was off-line for a couple of weeks?

Thanks!

Here is a few thoughts....

From looking at your FindU page it seems that data is making it there from looking at the graphs and Raw data. But it looks like you were dropped from MADIS ingestion for bad data possibly. Your FindU page does not have the link on the left column under Citizen Weather links section that should read, "Quality control graphs for EW8754."

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Also when going to Gladstonefamily.net your APRS status says that data has not been seen for 30 days since December 18, 2018, and the last APRS packet showing has missing data for all metrics.
EW8754>APRS,TCPXX*,qAX,CWOP-4:@181631z4212.97N/07130.48W_.../...g...t...r...p...P...b.....h..eMB38

Checking APRSdirect.com they are also not showing that they have received any new packets from you since Dec 18, 2018

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Maybe your station has been dropped from MADIS ingestion and now that you are sending good data again maybe it will be treated as a new station where you have to sometimes wait a week till you are picked up for MADIS ingestion. I believe that happens on Wednesdays. But that doesn't answer why you didn't get picked up this past Wednesday...maybe it was too soon. I would wait till next Wednesday and see if it fixes itself.

galfert thank you for your insight.  I am now using the new Meteobridge NANO SD on my Davis VantagePro2 Console and the NANO tells me that my data has been sent and received since January 8th.  I guess I will have to wait until after this coming Wednesday to see if it gets accepted by MADIS.

I appreciate your help!

I've also just realized that it may have to do with the government shutdown. I'm being serious. Had to crarify that because people lately say that as a joke.

Still no display of weather reports from my PWS.  Must be related to the shut-down as you stated.

I think I found the problem. Sorry I didn't catch this earlier. You are using the wrong CWOP ID in your Meteobridge. Your CWOP ID is EW8754 not E8754. The E8754 is your MADIS ID.

Your Meteobridge settings need to look like this with the W in there:
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

So this is your correct FindU.com address where you can see no data is being recieved:
http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/wxpage.cgi?call=EW8754

And this wrong address that is (unregistered) is where you are erroneously sending data to:
http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/wxpage.cgi?call=E8754

Once you start uploading to EW8754 then you should see your Gladstonefamily analysis show up at where it uses your MADIS ID E8754 here:
https://weather.gladstonefamily.net/site/E8754

For more information regarding CWOP ID vs MADIS ID and why refer to #6 in the FAQ link below:
http://www.wxqa.com/faq.html

Wow, thanks, my settings for CWOP ID did not include the "W".  I just updated it.

Thank you very much!

I seem to be making progress.  CWOP now shows this:

APRS Status
Your data is flowing into findu.com, but no weather data is being received from findu.com.
A recently received report from this station was

EW8754>APRS,TCPXX*,qAX,CWOP-7:@242157z4212.97N/07130.48W_190/003g010t056r008p165P125b09874h95L000eMB39

Is there anything I can do to make this data flow myself?

I think that is a bad status message over at Gladstonefamily.net. I say this because you can see your data with them it being received by them here:
https://weather.gladstonefamily.net/cgi-bin/wxqchart.pl?site=E8754

Since you just started sending to FindU you need to give it a day or so for your station to be picked up again as an active station. There is nothing you can do to expedite.

galfert: I truly appreciate your help.  I am a novice here but I want to have a reliable and accurate PWS especially into CWOP.

Today's message is this:

 APRS Status
No data has been seen recently from MADIS, but data is flowing into findu.com (from APRS). Your station may not be included in the region covered by MADIS. Sorry.
A recently received report from this station was

EW8754>APRS,TCPXX*,qAX,CWOP-6:@251348z4212.97N/07130.48W_315/004g012t033r000p133P000b10103h70L086eMB39

If this is not a weather report, then your station may not be transmitting weather reports, and this may be the problem. Check the recent reports at findu.com to see if any look like weather reports.

Michael,
You are back online with MADIS! All graphs are showing:
https://weather.gladstonefamily.net/site/E8754

Data Status
Over the last 28 days, no data was seen on the following dates: 2018-12-29 to 2019-01-01, 2019-01-03 to 2019-01-23.

galfert:  Thank you so much for assisting me, I do appreciate your help.

It looks like my most current temperature data isn't within the margins of other nearby stations based upon this note:

Your readings are not within an acceptable error range. The automated problem analysis cannot identify the problem. You can signup on the wxqc mailing list and post information about this situation there. This is may be caused by poor siting of the sensor (e.g. under eves, in screen porch, or in thick tree coverage).

I had previously been all green checkmarks so I will give it some time with new data coming in regularly and see if that fixes the accuracy they are looking for.  I didn't move my ISS from it's previous location.  While I was down I did upgrade the Davis temperature/humidity sensor to the latest version model and I remoted the anemometer to the peak of my garage on a separate Solar-Powered Wireless Transmitter for better wind accuracy.

If you got a 7346.070 replacement sensor then depending on which ISS you have and when it was manufactured you may need to do some temperature calibration adjustment. The fact that your temperature is a bit too high makes sense for certain ISS revisions.

See Description notes here:
https://www.scientificsales.com/7346-070-Replacement-Temp-Hum-board-for-Davis-VP2-p/7346.070.htm

Quote
This is a digital temperature humidity sensor intended for Davis Vantage Pro2 units which began production in early 2016 and specifically have a manufacturing code which starts with AS or later ( e.g. AT, AU, AV, etc.). This module will work in a “plug-and-play” fashion with following models (for all geographical versions USA, EU, UK, OV) with the above stated manufacturing code:

6152
6162c
6152
6162
6153
6163
6323
6322
6322c
6328
6327
6327c

This module will also work with Davis Vantage Pro2 units manufactured after January 2006 through manufacturing code AR, however, it will result in a reading which is 0.5 degrees Celsius (0.9 degrees Fahrenheit) too high. This error can be offset and corrected in the console as a calibration procedure (see page 26 of your console manual for calibration).

galfert:  I did get the 7346.070 sensor replacement as Davis advised me it was the latest model and had improvements in accuracy.  They didn't mention to me the need to calibrate with my console nor did I see on their site anything about this.   Since I am reporting with the Meteobridge NANO SD from the 6312 console I have, I just adjusted the temperature down by 0.9F as indicated in your post.  I wish I had seen this on the Davis site or that a bulletin was included with the sensor.

It looks like the scientific sales web site has much better information that the manufacturer's site.

See the difference in information on the two different websites:

https://www.davisinstruments.com/product/temperaturehumidity-digital-sensor-board-for-vantage-pro2/

https://www.scientificsales.com/7346-070-Replacement-Temp-Hum-board-for-Davis-VP2-p/7346.070.htm

A HUGE thank you once again!!

No problem. Glad to help. I've never even had a Davis station. I just read a lot about them and I'm waiting patiently for a VP3. I'm happy with my Ambient and Meteobridge for now.

So you made the temperature correction on the Meteobridge instead of on the 6312 console? If you do that then the display console is still showing wrong temp. I'd make the correction on the console. Here are the simple steps from the Davis manual.

I am sorry, I wasn't clear.  I made the adjustment on the Davis Console.

You, me and many others are waiting for VP3.  Someday???

I've been having a similar problem for a while now for my station FW4377. The gladstonefamily.net page seems stuck on "no weather data is being received from findu.com" despite me being set up with findu for over a month. There's no data at https://weather.gladstonefamily.net/cgi-bin/wxqchart.pl?site=F4377 either. Findu is showing everything just fine and it looks like my packets are formatted correctly. Do I just need to keep waiting?

Your data is flowing into Mesowest. So looks good. Just a mater of time. Seems these days they are very delayed.

I'm curious because there are so many old links that go nowhere. If there is a person charged with website maintenance, is this the correct email address to send feedback?

Thank you.

Yeah, seems at times like the entire CWOP system is entirely maintained as a labor of love by like, four people tops. Hope someone knows how to run the equipment when they finally retire...
