Hi folks,
Was cleaning up my VP2+ this morning, and noticed the sensor for Humidity and Temperature is 7312.176C. There's minimal information about this version out on the internet, however appears to be an older variant than what's now offered.
So while I was looking for an upgrade component, I found the 7346.174 and 7346.221 as possible suitable replacements.
Is there a notable difference between these two newer models? Other than a couple dollars difference.

You do have to be careful that you're reading the part number for the complete T/H sensor and not just the unpopulated PCB layout. The main part number will usually be on a white paper label on the underside of the PCB. It's usually best to ignore anything printed on the board itself.
-
Ah, I see - makes a little more sense now.
Board is Rev C0 with the date of 2009, the white paper/sticker shows SB 7346.166J

The .221 is the SHT31, this is what you want, cream of the crop. You'll need to put in the -0.9F or -0.5C offset in the console if you use this sensor.

I thought the SHT31 was 7346.070. That's what mine says anyway.
Edit: I just looked it up and apparently both .070 and .221 are 31's? I wonder why that is?

If I was a betting man, I'd say cable length.
Ah, guess I didn't look that in-depth. Makes sense. Now we just need two different codes for the 35's we'll be waiting on forever.... ](*,)

Jim, you removed your post; me thinks you aren't a betting man, doh!

As stupid as it sounds, I was trying to decide whether I should say "If I were" or "If I was", you caught me mid-correction trying to go back to "were". Grammar is quickly becoming non-existent in American culture. I'm just trying to do my part to help keep it alive. GL. ](*,)

If anyone needs confirmation, then yes that's correct, cable length. .070 and .221 have identical SHT31 sensors, but the .221 has a 25ft cable! If you're simply replacing the ISS sensor then don't look beyond .070 - the extra cable would just get in the way.
And as CW2274 says, don't for get to enter the extra offset for the SHT31 for pre-2016 units.

You also got me mid-correction trying to change "better" to "betting"

Thanks for the updates on this. The offsets won't be a problem to configure. :)
I saw a mention about the SHT35 as well. I assume this is something still being developed/tested for davis products?

Not unless you're privy to something the rest of us are not.

Not in the know by a long shot, just seen a lot of mentions on the forums (https://www.google.com/search?ei=pC0hW86RGaXv5gKTgp-QBA&q=SHT35+site%3Awxforum.net&oq=SHT35+site%3Awxforum.net&gs_l=psy-ab.3...6056.6311.0.6412.3.3.0.0.0.0.116.295.2j1.3.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..0.0.0....0.R-PLeCctJHI) about the sensor.

For now it is just a fantasy sensor, something we want to get our hands on dearly, but can't #-o However, the 31 is good enough for me, for now......
