If you're getting that from the FTP client on your weather system, I'd suggest a reboot to clean out connections and start again fresh.

Reboot WX PC (and that will restart WD too).

When TCP/IP sockets get in a tangle, sometimes the only resolution is to reboot -- quicker too than a long diagnosis.
Do the diagnosis only if it occurs after you've rebooted the WX PC.

Thanks Ken. I rebooted with Team Viewer and we will see what happens.

I get this Ken.

141: 530 Sorry, the maximum number of clients (3) from your host are already connected.

I can't sign in on my FTP program either?

Your hoster may limit the number of concurrent FTP sessions you can use.

WD uses two sessions - one for the clientrawrealtimeftp and one for the general FTP function
GRLevel3 uses one session when it is uploading.

You should contact the tech support for your hoster .. the webserver may have some 'zombie' FTP processes still active and waiting for your client -- give them your home IP address (find it at http://www.wxforum.net/info.php )

E-rice says I can have 5 connections on a standard 3 plan. I have a standard 3 plan so how do I get 5 connections? I have 3!

Ryan,

The message you posted
Quote
141: 530 Sorry, the maximum number of clients (3) from your host are already connected.
implies that the current limit is only 3 concurrent sessions .. I'd call the tech support about checking on the limit and to have them kill the active FTP processes from your client, then start afresh.

No phone number to e-rice . I really don't know what to do. :-(

I'd suggest posting on weather-watch.com -- there are a lot of e-rice users there and one of the mods (Niko) is very familiar with the e-rice packages/servers.  You could also try opening a trouble ticket on their system

Hope this helps...
Best regards,
Ken

Yes you should get 5 with the standard 3 plan. It is what I currently use. Post a trouble ticket or post in the e-rice forum. Alan is typically very quick to respond.

if you currently have something like this:
ftp.hayskansasweather.com
as your host in WD and other apps.

Use the numeric one they gave you the same way.  Put the numbers in host box. But do not use ftp:// in front of it.
for example    123.456.789.12

Dumb rationale they gave you, but numeric is the way to go if its static.

Last week my "internet went down".  Yet when I checked my site status from my phone, everything was updated and current.  I gave up trouble shooting after a while, and decided it was the ISP's DNS messing up.   Put the laptop down and did "other stuff"

It turns out it was every customer of my ISP, which is about half my province. 3 or 4 hours.
And I was correct about the DNS being the culprit although they never publicly acknowledged.

So my fling and WD were unaffected because they were numeric, and chugged right through.

Andrew

ps: some of the rants the following day, or via mobiles were funny.  Come on its not the end of the world.   The ones that were really funny, were ones like " I actually played a game with my kids... watched a family movie".  And of course the "9 months from now there will be an  mini baby boom"

Thanks I got it! What a pain in the rear!

You don't HAVE to use their DNS servers. In my experience, any DSN server should work. I stopped using Charter's DNS long ago and now use either TW Telecom's, or Google's. Google's are easy to remember in a pinch: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

I switched to using OpenDNS servers for my queries.  Very stable, responsive, and very quick to automatically disallow any Phishing sites.

I haven't had any problems since E-rice gave me the IP address to use. (crossing fingers)

Just wondering why it happened all of a sudden after almost a year with no trouble?

Thanks for the help everyone!

Just to say that I had the same issue when I upgraded to Build 15 of Weather Display(10.37), although the regular FTPupload was working fine, the client raw FTP kept timing out (see screenshot)

Switching to the IP address rather than ftp.xxx, seems to have fixed it for me (Heart Internet is my ISP).
