Cant view certain IP addresses ***RESOLVED***
« on: September 17, 2011, 01:23:56 PM »
As of yesterday morning my website is not updating.  I cant view it either.I have tried from my 3 home computers, and from 4 different Browsers. I can however view it from work!  So from home I can't view or FTP to it.  From work I can view and FTP. 5 hours with godaddy and ATT uverse internet coustomer service has gone nowhere, each blaming the other!

So far I have of course rebooted, reset the network adapter, reset the gateway, reset the modem, tried just the gateway and left the modem out, restet my account settings at go daddy and reset my account settings at ATT, and of course cussed!#%@#$!*&^%$@#

Digging arround today I have found 5 other sites with similar IP addresses that I cant view from home either.

MY SITE 184.168.26.1 peotoneweather.com
             184.168.27.167 ocexecutive.com
             184.168.35.189 alphamaxfund.com
             184.168.37.1 indyexhaust.com
             184.168.40.1 golinked.org
             184.168.45.151 dollhousejewelry.com

I should note if i set my Iphone to wifi I cant view them, but If I switch off wifi and use 3G I can.  ATT is my carrier for Iphone as well.

Anyone have any ideas?

Dave

They all worked for me at: 10:30PDT 9/17/2011.

Perhaps it was just a temporary outage.

I can view all of them from coputers outside my home or on my cell if its not on wifi.  I can't however view them through my home internet.  A fried just brought his laptop over and when he hooked into my router he can not view them either.  He did at his house a mile away on comcast internet.  Somehow ATT and godaddy are not comunicating.

You may need to do a full reset of your router.
The same thing happened here and I suspected a trojan initially.
Never did get to the bottom of it but resetting the router to 'out of the box' - not just a reboot - fixed it.

Router is reset back to out of box.  An Att tech is bringing a new router today to try that.  They said without a new router they cant upgrade to tech level 3 which includes microsoft techs.

No firewalls of any kind?

Sounds like it could be a DNS issue.  Are you entering the URLs or the IP addresses?  Have you tried pinging the IP addresses from a command prompt?

No firewall issues!  Tried to ping from command prompt.  No Go!  SERVER NOT RESPONDING!  Like I mentioned above its only my site and a few other sites with similar IP addresses.

Dave, from your trace, it looks as though you are being blocked internally within the secureserver.net. Note that my Pingplot had three more hops than yours to your website.  This is some internal router setting on the secureserver network to block your IP or perhaps a block of AT&T IPs.

You might get around this by getting a new IP from AT&T that is outside the subnets secureserver is blocking.

Edit: As a U-Verse customer, I guess you can't get a new IP so easily as a DSL PPPoE customer.  I only read AT&T and not the U-Verse part.

Ping the IP addresses.

ping 184.168.27.167

and see what happens.  All of the domain names you show are hosted on the same servers ns 27.domaincontrol.com, ns28.domaincontrol.com, ns29.domaincontrol.com, ns30.domaincontrol.com and a couple of others.

Depending on how long this has been happening, it could be something that will resolve itself as the nameserver repropagates across the web.

ipconfig /flushdns  ???

(i dunno)

[edit]I type before thinking...  Can you flush (or change) the DNS entries for your router, since outside your router, access to those domains/IPs seems to work?[/edit]

Also try entering the IP address in your browser address bar instead of the URL.

When you said you can't view the pages, what screen do you get? 404? Time-out?

I thought maybe the .htaccess file could be a culprit. It would have a line in it like this but with your IP address.
Code: [Select]
deny from 184.168.

Here's a tool GoDaddy uses to check sites.

http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/web-sites-on-web-server/

The other ones on your server seem to be ok.

I was bitten by exactly the same bug on my GoDaddy hosted site yesterday at about 6 AM.  Calls to my ISP, Internet Nebraska, were fruitless, and GoDaddy had no clue when I submitted a support ticket.  I chatted online with a Time Warner tech rep for about an hour while we went through all of the gyrations suggested in this thread, and then spent another half-hour on the phone with another 'local' tech support rep.  In my case hooking my cable modem directly to a computer allowed me to communicate via that computer with my GoDaddy hosted web site.  I also have a DSL hookup on which I still host my old VWS-based weather website, so during all this I switched my GoDaddy site's feed over to the DSL temporarily until I could communicate with it again via the cable modem.

I had been spoofing my NetGear WNDR3700 router's (which serves the cable modem on my LAN) MAC address to my old D-Link router's MAC address.  When I changed it to show the WNDR3700's MAC address I was assigned a new IP via DHCP, 76.85.196.139 instead of 76.85.196.179, and suddenly all of my communications problems were resolved.  My Windows tracert looked exactly like yours!  I spent all day sorting this out. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Today I noticed that my Mesonet feeds to the Plains and Midwest Mesonets are offline.  Ken True, the Mesonet webmaster and guru, advised me that my webhost is screwing up the clientraw.txt feed via some sort of redirect.  I currently have a trouble ticket in with them regarding this problem that has yet to be resolved.  Ken suspects the PHP cache was turned on or there is an .htaccess problem; I'm way out of my league here.

UPDATE!!!  It is resolved.  The ATT tech that came to my home tried a new router and it did not work at all.  No internet period.  He tried two others with same results.  He had to call in to tier two tech support and that idiot said is was with my computer and ended the call.  The tech in my home called back got someone else and they reset something on a network server and got it to work through the gate way modem.  Before this we had tried just the gateway modem and it did not work.  When the wifi router was added on it did not work so it was back to square one.  So he had another modem that was actually supposed to be an upgraded cost to me and waived the fee.  Its a 2wire with gateway and router in one unit.  It works great.

In summary  It was a reset out on their network server and the wifi router. Strange this coincided with the godaddy FTP outage on Friday and only affected IP addresses like mine.  Too many coincidences for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll bet that first L2 tech as a 100% "resolved" rating.  The field tech that had to call L2 is the one that couldn't handle it by himself, and will probably be frozen out for stabbing the first guy (with his 100% reputation) in the back by re-opening the ticket.

In all seriousness, please update if it is still working in a couple of days, in case there is another "reset" somewhere.
