All these snow shots brought me out of the woodwork! There is a full sized picnic table under the 2 1/2 feet of snow!2 1/2' of snow!? I'd be hiding in the woodwork also! :-)
I have 2 cams that run 24/7. Currently they are aligned to form a "panorama". I am using Sebectec software and the Olympus SP500 cams. My enclosure is home made with cedar siding to match the house. The view is looking up Admiralty Inlet and Whidbey Island. For perspective, here is what the cams are looking at:I envy you having that coastal location. What I wouldn't give to have that. I miss that area.

I have a page that shows the cams aligned in panorama.... at least for now....

This is where my cam will be going. But for right it's just a pic. Thought you guys might want to see what the color green looks like since a lot of you are buried in snow.

Edit.
Man I hate this new forum. Can't get any pics to upload.
Oh well.
There, got it to work. Woohoo!
Skywatch,
A lot has changed over the years. I don't know when you were here, but in my time ... a LOT has changed. When I moved here in 1977, there were 3 functioning boathouses with long lines of customers (salmon fisherman) on the weekends. Last week Point No Point resort was bulldozed to the ground. It was the last functioning resort in the area. It closed around 2000. My cousin owned and operated that resort from 1977 until it closed. The main dwelling was build in the 20's. I spent a LOT of time there. Beautiful old growth fir throughout the place. It breaks my heart that it was not preserved as a historic landmark.
So.... Enough of the sad news.... Because of my great teachers of "old school" techniques of salmon fishing (Shorty, Vic, Pete, Bill, John... ) I am still catching salmon when others aren't. Last summer I had a short season because of a kitchen remodel I am doing. I fished for 10 days and got 10 kings. Biggest was 23lbs. I had 3 over 20 and most were in the upper teens. At the risk of sounding arrogant (and I probably am).... Fishing was very slow. During those 10 days, I saw about 5 fish caught per day and an average of 50 boats fishing per day. I am very blessed to have had great teachers over the years.
I am a bit nostalgic when it comes to fishing and boats. A few years back I rebuilt one of the Point No Point rental boats with my son. It was the best father/son projects we ever did. I took a few pics and put up a site for it. http://www.skunkbayweather.com/PtNoPtBoat/ (http://www.skunkbayweather.com/PtNoPtBoat/)
Thought I'd share,
Greg
Here are my camera images. Both cameras are about 25 Ft AGL. I'd like to get higher but they're good enough. The north camera is the Logitech C920 which is installed on the apex of the lower roof above the garage connected to the computer through a 15' USB extension. The south camera is the Swann ADW-200. This camera is installed on the WX pole near the top.Not sure if anyone noticed a difference; but a little bit earlier I re-installed the north facing camera to the eve of the roof using 2" steel clamps and a 2' extension. This added 5' to the camera's height AGL. I have a little bit of the horizon in the image. Better at seeing approaching storms!
I use Weather Display's included web cam program to handle both cameras. Have the images updating and sending every 5 minutes.

I have 2 cams that run 24/7. I upload a thumbnail and new image once a minute per cam. Every hour I upload a time lapse video of the previous 3 hours from each cam as well. I capture 3 images per minute, so the time lapse run time is 18 seconds. Currently they are aligned to form a "panorama". I am using Sebectec software and the Olympus SP500 cams. My enclosure is home made with cedar siding to match the house. The view is looking up Admiralty Inlet and Whidbey Island.
Can someone give a hint how to add my cam directly on here ?Here you go, Chris:

I am not code literate and don't see reason to change. Image same with either link when clicked on. Please enlighten me as to reason for request. Image better when not snowing as it is today.
Thanks.

I notice my images have stopped updating on Wunderground. However I do recall this same behavior on WU back when I registered and initiated my other 2 cameras where the uploads would stop for about an hour or so. Is this normal with WU?I still upload images to WU but I stopped looking at the them on WU due to the inconstancy issues.
Mine are from Oly C4000 (4) and 1 C765 (SE View) running under VM95:

I also have a few Logitechs and a few TrendNet IP cams under BlueIris but those are more property/security related right now and not all are hooked up.
My north-side shelf:
Thanks, Ryan. Still more to do when I get time. Need to stuff the wiring away on that shelf still. The two south views are on an old laptop and I'll expand that if I ever get around to building "Junior 2". It struggles with those two as is and any Logitechs on it just kill the USB power.

I run my three main cams through one powered multi-port without issues on Active extender cables.

Well, after much procrastination (I'm an expert in that field ), I have placed an order on Amazon for a new Logitech C920 along with a -2 diopter viewfinder lens. This camera will replace my ailing Logitech Quickcam Fusion I am currently using and on which the -2 diopter lens adapter does not work. I see delivery is set for around mid-April. Not sure why it is going to take so long but that is the shipping estimate. That will give me some time to get things ready for it.Ok, let's get that booger up and running... need another addition to Hubblecam page. You know, something Dry, to counteract all Chris' Capeweather, and George's Smith Mountain Lake cams...
While I was at it, I also ordered an enclosure for my Blitzortung controller board and some other misc parts to finish that project.
Will post again once I get the new camera installed.

The top one is. The bottom one is my older 2605.
Is it possible to Hubble Cam fix a Foscam FI8905W. If so, what are the recommendations? You could try it but I believe the Foscam is already focused for distant subjects. The idea of the Hubble mod is to take a near-sighted webcam, a camera that normally has a focus range of only a few feet in front of it, and modify it so that it's focus point is much farther away, maybe infinity.

It is not intended as a night camera and, as it is close up to the window, at night all you will see is the reflection of the device's indicators on the window.
Lol, your post only "works" when it is night time here ;)

Was looking through the webcam images this evening and noticed the following one on Cutty's Southwest Live Streaming image. Not sure what I am seeing on that image but perhaps Cutty is launching rockets???Itsy Bitsy Spider...

Your gonna love the Hikvision John. Is that a theater room?
... Lots of dead camera links here. ....Thanks for the reminder! Did a bit of restructuring of my websites, so needed to edit my original post (#88) from a few years ago.
Webcam number 3 up and running. About to install webcam 4 here in a few weeks. I will have one pointing in each of the major cardinal directions(N, W, E, W). This one points WNW. These cameras are home built using a raspberry pi and it's camera module. I also have their movie loops sent over to Youtube each night. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2X3uvFF1hiKrTccpNh_2VQ (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2X3uvFF1hiKrTccpNh_2VQ)I just looked at your image this morning and...are those stars that I'm seeing or camera noise? Looks like stars to me this early morning...showing 4:18 your local time. Nice horizon and sky!

Indeed they are. Since my camera's are custom built I have two modes on them. Day and Night. Day mode is automatic camera settings, but night is long shutter times(3 second)! I have been able to see lightning with these and of course star movement. All my cameras also upload to youtube which makes for a boring channel most of the time. Last year I caught this storm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UihB9iQt5o4&list=PLu7dJllMb-gEYc73E8QKGyDGZZiXwhBYc&index=4 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UihB9iQt5o4&list=PLu7dJllMb-gEYc73E8QKGyDGZZiXwhBYc&index=4)
I would like to think I can stop with this hobby anytime but I just got a Raspberry Pi Zero with the new 8MP camera coming in the mail to upgrade my north facing camera so I guess I can't stop.. :)
Enjoy,
Nickolas
These are awesome!
What cams are you using where you can set the exposure to 3.5 at night? I really want a better night sky cam
Nickolas,
If you do not mind me asking, what software are you using on your PiZero to take long exposure cam shots??

New, fresh webcam, in our weather network, in Kontovounia, Western Taygetos mountain, 1612mHey everybody, this is a nice scene when weather is clear...but man, when the snow hits this place looks really desolate as in "Andes Plane Crash Site" or something on that order!!!!!!!! Nice shot!!!

Looks like I am ready for the North American Monsoon here in the desert southwest. I have finished my 4th web cam. All my cameras are raspberry pi with the camera module. Three are outside (East, Northeast, and Northwest) and one inside (south) pointing outside. The cameras are taking an image every 6 seconds during the day and every 15 seconds during the night. Night shots are exposed at 3.1 seconds for all the cameras except the Northeast, it is at 3.5 seconds. I transfer all the images to my server and then create youtube videos twice a day (9am for night videos, 9pm for day videos). All images are overlaid with weather data from my own custom built weather stations (that is another thread).
For now I am happy with this setup. I have thought about a 360° or at least a vertical cam. This way I can detect precip events (rain on windshield situation).
I have 4 Hikvision IP cameras (3 MP) that are mounted on the anemometer mast which is mounted on my roof. I'm using IP Timelapse (https://iptimelapse.com/) to capture the images every 15 seconds to create a time lapse movie, and to place the weather data on the image (from VWS).
Just back on line after a few months.

Has anyone written code to time stamp a jpg image that comes from a camera that won't do it? I have an older Foscam that sends an FTP image every 15 minutes, but it won't time stamp the photo.I've written a small script for image overlay 'a few' years ago.
