It's now 3406 members (subject to change :) )

What is also amazing is: that is the 'pruned' number of members.  The memberid field (which increments by 1 for each new applicant) is showing 4140 as the total count.  What happened to the rest of them, you ask.. they were the 730+ spammers rejected before they did their dirty deeds.  Our forum's participation in Stop Forum Spam has netted (and rejected) 636 applicants to date.

It seems that many folks join, ask one or more questions, and then drop out with their questions answered, and that's an ok thing to do.  For the top-40 posters, it is more of a daily visit and a way to engender camaraderie in addition to responding to questions.

Thanks to all who keep this forum alive with posts and help in the administration :)

Best regards,
Ken

Yes, on 18-Mar-2011, we saw Jimcork as member 4000 join.  Course, there have been many more "members" join (5860 with his membership), but the difference was all the spammers that were zapped from the forum or just denied membership.

Since the forum started up in June, 2006, 4000 members is a nice growth :)

Best regards,
Ken

It seemed like there were quite a few member intro's lately!  Sometimes more than one a day.  4,000. Wonder how many countries are represented?

Possibly an effect caused from the 'super moon' pulling all these new members in?

Comedian Steven Wright once said, "I saw a subliminal advertising executive today, but just for a second."

Who's bragging?  I was talking about the size of my moons.  Why would I brag about that?  #-o

New Members- Please don't forget to put some info on your personal profile and make a pin on the map.
I like to see where people are from and the weather conditions around them.

None of that can be seen by non-members.

They appear to be trying two different things:
1) successful registration to put spammer links in their profile and/or post spam links in topics.
2) see if they can harvest member email addresses (they can't) to feed to spammer email engines.  Our forum (by default) will hide individual email addresses unless you explicitly allow your email to be shown (via your profile).  Forum guests (harvester engines) cannot see email addresses in postings or profiles at all.

Ken
