www.weatherlink.com https error
« on: May 20, 2018, 02:48:37 AM »
Since May  19th  12:00 UTC  the https certificate for https://www.weatherlink.com is not valid anymore.

When linking to that site the browser throws an error, NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID
CURL access will fail.

Scripts who retrieve API data should still use http://

Is this something Davis will likely fix or is there another way to connect to www.weatherlink.com site?

It looks like the certificate has run out of date and no-one noticed. Probably be corrected within a few days at a guess. But it's not stopping standard browser access - you just override the error.

Sorry, but I don't usually have time to help with individual issues by email unless you are a Prodata customer. Please post your issue in the relevant forum section here & I will comment there if I have anything useful to add.

I hadn't thought I could do that, but it works.

Enjoy,

Yes, you obviously have to be a little cautious just in case the site has actually been hijacked. But in the case of wl.com I suspect that effort involved relative to reward would be pretty high. Occam's razor suggests that human error in forgetting to renew the certificate is much more likely. (I was trying to remember whether the wl.com site was previously https rather than http - I think the answer was yes, but if not then that's another possible explanation if the certificate wasn't also carefully checked.)
