Handheld Anemometer Recommendations
« on: December 05, 2016, 10:58:31 AM »
Greetings. If this is not the correct location for this post, I apologize. I didn't feel it fit into the Buy/Sell forum.

Looking for some recommendations and feedback on a handheld anemometer. I am looking to be in the $50-$250 range. I know little about these other then some quick research. I'm not sure what makes one device better than another.

I have seen some do temperature & humidity readings among other things. Basically, I'm looking for reliable, accurate data, waterproof and not just basic wind features. I will be using it for hobby purposes only.

I have one of these Inspeed units.

It seems to work well and is reasonably priced. All it does is wind speed.

I have an omni-directional windmeter.  The directional ones (Kestrel etc.) have to be oriented into the wind to be accurate.

I appreciate the recommendations. I had not come across any omni directional units previously. Bushman, which unit do you have? Any additional feedback on the one you have?

I've been using a Kestrel 3000 for a few years. It has a number of different displays, all depends what you all want.

I have one similar to this:  http://ca.binnacle.com/p10629/PLASTIMO-WINDY-HANDHELD-ANEMOMETER/product_info.html  Mine was German-made and I'll see if I can find it for more details. (It might not be here)

Here's a review of the one I have.  http://www.my-best-kite.com/windtronic-2.html  Much cheaper than the others and still very accurate.
