Greetings. I want to share a new php-based weather web resource which I developed and am running on a dedicated server – the National Severe Weather Report (
http://report.weatherspotter.net/). This resource provides a concise, one page display of any tornado, severe thunderstorm, or flash flood warnings that are currently in effect across the nation. The contents of those warnings and subsequent severe weather statements are interrogated by the software for significant developments. For example, an on-screen alert is issued if there are currently any NWS reports of tornadoes on the ground in the USA along with where those touchdowns are occurring. Local Storm Reports (LSR) are concurrently interrogated to determine whether any related damage, injuries, or fatalities are being reported. A national LSR count shows the up-to-date tornado, touchdown, hail, and wind reports for the current day. A Pareto of the NWS Offices issuing the warnings for the day is also provided along with a tally of the Local Storm Reports from those offices keeping you informed of the most active areas.
Links to the recently introduced NWS impact graphics service are also provided for every warning indicating the total population affected and whether there are any hospitals or schools in the warned area. A timer at the top of the screen shows the elapsed time from the most recent warning. The new service, which is cell phone friendly, can be viewed at report.weatherspotter.net.
