J mount and 24hr FARS
« on: June 16, 2018, 02:01:13 PM »
My VP2 is currently attached directly to a 4x4 post.  It's very cumbersome to take down for maintenance, etc. In hopes to solve this I have purchased the J mount in the attached picture.  We all know how hot dark metal can get.  Is this going to affect the temp with 24hr FARS? Should I consider painting the mount white?

Unless I'm mistaken, the VP2's solar panel(s) should be shielding some if not all of the mount at the strongest sun times?

FYI, I bought that same exact mount from Amazon a few months ago:

Notice that the color is much lighter than their ad picture, and how you can creatively mount a Stratus rain gauge right next to your VP2 for the ultimate precipitation comparisons.....

I have one - works just fine.  And you can just insert the anemometer pipe into the top hole of the J-mount.

I also have one, and it is grey rather than black. Works great so far.

Curious about whether that Stratus would be affected by any splash from the ISS? I thought about putting my Stratus on my ISS post/pole too but decided to think it over first.

What's your thought?

Very nice.

I am having to remount my Stratus. The board it is mounted to has begun to loosen from its post and the board itself has seen too many Kansas dry, windy days.
