Mine was 29.1F this morning

As I woke for a moment, I saw the temperature on the weather station - 3.5 this morning about 5:30 am. I thought " Gee you are sure lucky, it is to be colder tomorrow and You will be getting ready to teach at that time of the day."
-
11.5 F was my low this morning. Solid snow cover with strengthening valley inversion means we ain't getting any warmer for several days. :-x
-
-14.8 coldest day since January 19, 2012.
2012 ties the warmest year since 1931,

Couldnt find my post from yesterday in this thread. Then realized that this was YAWYCTOTY thread.
I thought the one from November 27 covered the entire 2012-2013 "winter" season... :?:
I'll wait for the "What's Your Coldest Temperature of January 3rd" one

3.8c or 38 F till now.

LFWX,
I'm not too far from you, on the other side of I-75.
My low is 8.9F on the Jan 3rd as well.
-
Mine is 4.9 C or 41 F but going be colder soon.
-
New low for the year this morning at -16.7° F. In an average year, I have nine days with below zero lows for the entire month of January. In the first thirteen days this month, I have had ten days with lows below zero. I think the weather is trying to even out from last year's abnormally high temperatures.
-
I feel like a piker reporting +28F as our coldest temperature, but here in the SF South Bay Area, it rarely gets below 32F so it is an 'event' for us. Found 1/8 inch ice on a puddle this morning and frost everywhere. Tonight is forecast to be +26F for another hard freeze.

Break out the parka Ken!
-
With our seasonal weather, and lack of desire to visit the snow in the Sierra Mountains, there's no parka to be had .. generally because there's no need :)
p.s. It's why we live in California to enjoy a Mediterranean climate .. we get to go see the snow if we wish, not have it delivered whether we want it or not :) None of the towns/cities around the SF Bay Area have snow removal equipment .. it snows maybe once every 20 years or so for sprinkle on the grounds up to 500ft, and hard freezes are very seldom here in the South Bay.
Y'all just keep your snow .. we like it only in the Sierra Nevada Mountains where it provides our drinking water during melt season.
-
Let's see, I moved from that "Mediterranean climate" in San Jose to western Nevada where we enjoy that SIERRA snow. In fact, have about an inch on the ground right now. It will probably be gone in a week or so until the next storm comes in. Lake Tahoe, which is just west of us (10 air miles) will probably have snow until late June or July this year. We are way ahead of our normal snowfall in the SIERRA but we can use all we can get for use next summer. As Ken mentioned, snowfall is necessary for water supplies all around the area.
Last night (early this morning) we had our lowest temperature of 2013. It was 0.0. Brrrrr.....
-
still shorts and tee shirt weather.
John
-
New low recorded this morning at -21.0° F.
-
1*F recorded 1/12/13
-
The 13th gave me a 10.7 - half a degree warmer than my coldest JAN low in 2011. 2011 also saw 3 consecutive days in Feb with sub-zero temps and blew all the records out of the book - mine and "official".
-
New low here in the Carson Valley this morning: -1.9F.
Side question: how do you display the degree symbol in these forums? I'm probably missing something very simple...

25°F as of 07:43 yesterday (14Jan), also just recorded my lowest dew point of 3°F at 05:09 this morning. Kinda nippy for the east valley, but hopefully tomorrow we'll start to climb out of this cold snap.

Marana, North of Tucson, Arizona, USA

Another way is to open the Character Map. It has all manner of special characters that you can copy and paste into forums, emails, Word docs etc.
On XP machines, it's usually somewhere under Start/All Programs/Accessories. I dragged mine to the Quick Launch bar for quicker access.

21 in NW Peoria, AZ on 1/14.
We also had at least 8 hours of temps below freezing on the 14th, which is unheard of around here. Busted an irrigation pipe because of it.
By the way, contrast that with our highest temp last year of 118 on August 8th; that's a 97 degree swing !

That's a great idea! :D
-
Dropping fast here this evening with light winds, deep snow and clear skies.
We don't usually much do very low temperatures, as the North Sea is only ten miles away mostly downhill - cold air just flows away and often later in the night a sort of reverse sea-breeze sets up with water warmed air coming back over the top.

-
The last two nights got down below -10C and the minimum was last night at -11.6C
Wind and cloud plus snow flurries have arrived today and it's just below freezing so that may have been the lowest from this spell.
-
20.8 °C

That is great info - THANKS!
And, for VISTA systems the Character Map can be found at "%SystemRoot%\system32\charmap.exe".
I like placing the char map in the Quick Launch area idea as it's quick and easy and also let's you select all of the other special characters and it also shows you the shortcut keys for that particular character. I've used both of these methods in years gone by but this old mind is slipping a bit...
Thanks again for both replies. I'm sure they will help not only me but many others on this forum.

I think this thread will get busy next week with much of the Ohio River Valley's low temperatures bottoming out between 5 and 15F
-
Here in MN, we're predicted to have a 50 degree drop in 24 hours, so I'm sure I'll have something new to report tomorrow!
-
2 days ago, the Tuesday wake up temp was forecast at -23C, yesterday changed to -21, now its only -14C for Tuesday.
Andrew
-
later on today when the winds pick up even tho high is gonna be 19F it'll feel like -3F outside!!
-
We must be on the very edge of the Arctic bubble, flip flopping back and forth in the forecasts. Now back to a -23 forecast. Regardless, cold and windy this week.

It is going to be well below zero in this neck of the woods, that's for sure.
-
Low of 14 F and dropping here. My anemometer is broken, so I don't know the wind chill. I do know that the apparent temperature, minus factoring wind, is 7.5 F.
-
Today, January 23, 2013, we hit 80.3°F which really beats the crap out of our low of 20.7°F on January 15, 2013.
-
6.3°F this morning. High of 20.6°F this afternoon. Dayton, Ohio (north of me) set a new record minimum high temperature for this date.
-
Got down to 8.2 during the night. I hate this cold.
-
Officially -16.6C ( 2F) on Jan 22
Unofficially -19.8C (-3.6F ) and falling right now
Andrew

Brad

Statistically, not many more chances for that to happen this winter
-

-
-18.4 F or -28.0 C
Here in Quebec Canada
-
Got down to 11F this morning in Charleston, and I think that will be broken tonight.
That's surely cold there even for time of year. Oklahoma won't be in the intense part of the air mass. Low only forecasted to get down to 26 here, apparently thanks in part to cloud cover, and will already be up to the 50s on Friday.
-
Ended up with a low of 11F so far with a low wind chill of -4.7, which is pretty cold for my neck of the woods :-)
-
-20.2 °C at 7:39am (-4.3F) Jan 23, 2013
Last night was forecast as cold but -16 right now, I doubt it will make it.
Andrew

Holy cow!

It's only going to get down to 27 F in the morning. But the ice storm is supposed to start around 4:00 am and I get off of work around 5:30 am. So it should be an exciting drive home in the dark in the morning. 8-[

That's the worst conditions to drive in so pls. take it easy and good luck! Driving in snow is one thing and at least you have some control but ice is another thing and does what it wants while you drive. Scary stuff.

Been there and done that once. Don't want to do it again. I-35 in north Oklahoma was closed not long after I got off at the Stillwater exit.

ditto, once was enough for me too and hopefully never again. Finally came to a complete stop and standing still on an ice covered road when the car started sliding sideways on it's own until it stopped on the shoulder. Getting out to walk around wasn't much easier either.
-
No matter where you drive for the conditions. The Richardson Highway here is close due to some one rear ending an road grader clearing snow. Roadway was still close at milepost 292 as of the 6pm news. That area is long straigth away andpeople like to speed down it under all conditions. Been snowing there all day and they are expected toget 9-17 inches.
Be safe everyone.

More basic climatic view, and more generally, here in the Northern Central Sierra Nevada foothills of CA, only at times down to the lower 20s.
— Nothing more severe, most often drier cold, but cold enough to snow a few times a year.
Check my main profile, for my more specific location.

I'm seeing another cold spell hitting the northeast sometime around the late first week of February...this thread might get busy again. :!:
-
Had -10.7 °F here this morning, coldest morning of 2013 for us so far. Although, it felt much colder to me with yesterday at 0°F and quite windy (-20°F wind chill). We're under a wind chill advisory today (25-30 below) but I didn't notice too much wind this morning at 7:30.
This was me yesterday:

Down to 5.5F right now, on the way to possibly dropping to 0F. Previously, we hadn't dropped below 10F this season. This has been a healthy winter for us. Charleston has already received about half of its normal snowfall for the year already (34" average), with another 3-5" coming tomorrow. I have about 5 inches on the ground now with 4-6" more on the way. Today was the first day Marshall University in Huntington had a school delay in about 2 years.

-19 on the 13th of Jan
-
Down to -7.7°C (18.1°F) so far this year in Hitchin, UK.

Haven't seen below 0°F in a few years, coldest I have ever seen it here was -21°F back in the early '80s.

Coldest here in Northern North Dakota is -22.5°F on 1-31-2013.
-
49? Sorry, that's all we could afford, any lower and we'd have to put heaters in the houses and we're all retired and can't afford that luxury. Don't have AC either, definitely can't afford that at $.42/KWH.

Hit 25 on the nose here last night. A good hard freeze for about 12 hours. Then of course it goes up to 68 today.

Hi Paul
I'm located near Killaly/Highbury (just west of Highbury) in London. By the way, your webpage http://www.komokaweather.com/pws-new-20180903/ looks great! Thought I would poke around the Wxforum.net website before Davis switches from Weatherlink 1.0 to Weatherlink 2.0 (haven't been impressed with the upcoming change).....
Cheers Paul @flyingdutchwx
