Title: Weather Display Forecast Icons
Post by: ADM on August 25, 2009, 05:27:12 PM
After pouring though dozens of posts on both forums I am still confused on how to resolve.  On my web page www.BarrowCountyWeather.com I seem to always have the cloudy icon showing. Right now it is clear but the cloudy icon is displayed.

Any suggestions are certainly appreciated!

Thanks!

Al

Title: Weather Display PHP template and the Forecast Icons
Post by: ADM on August 28, 2009, 03:21:49 PM
Well I have tracked down the fact that the clientraw from WD is passing different forecst icons numbers but all I ever see on the web page is the overcast.jog ovd.jpg.

Is there something wrong in the setup of the template?

thanks for any input,

Al.

The template just uses whatever icon number (1 to 35) that WD selects, so I'm thinking that there's a 'forecast' icon slipping into the icon number instead of the icon number derived from the METAR sky conditions.

Check WD, Control Panel, Summary Image/Icon, Main Screen Icon TAB:

untick  "Use the WM918/WMR918... forecast for updating the main screen icons'.

If that was set, it would override your selection of METAR for sky conditions.

If you have a Solar sensor, then you'll need to do a WD, Control Panel, Solar Sensor, Thresholds/icon TAB setup also.

Best regards,
Ken

Once again, many thanks!

Unticking  "Use the WM918/WMR918... forecast for updating the main screen icons' seemed to do the trick

Since setting up solar I seem to be having icon/conditions text problems.

I posted 'next door' but not getting a response. Any help much appreciated. I use the alt ajax dash.

My config.
I know this has been asked several times, but the recommended config via http://www.weather-watch.com/smf/index.php/topic,25119.0.html (http://www.weather-watch.com/smf/index.php/topic,25119.0.html) isn't producing the expected results.
The icon doesn't agree w/ the text.

As usual, I'm probably missing something.

Currently, my WD program icon shows mostly cloudy w/ the same text, at 66% solar avg. METAR shows mc w/ mist.
My webpg shows partly cloudy icon w/ text of mc w/ mist. Using the recommended setup, my solar should be overriding METAR.

The setup instructions seem to be outdated and incorrect.
Does anyone have solar updating their conditions text correctly on their saratoga template?

update:
It seems WD momentarily bounces back and forth b/w showing METAR and the overriden solar config.
Plaintext parser shows the correct icon inline w/ my solar.
ALso, when I originally open the webpg, the icon and text match. Then ajax updates and mismatch occurs.

Still trying to narrow down the problem.
The parser description is correct. The parser icon is wrong.

048 Icon Type Z 3 (Cloudy)
049 Weather Desc L partly cloudy

Shouldn't the icon in the alt ajax dash read the parsed 049 description, then match the icon to the text? With the solar overide, shouldn't 048 be ignored?
