New Firmware for HP2550/1 (WS2000) Console - 1.4.1
« on: April 12, 2019, 04:07:05 AM »
Hi Folks, a new firmware has been released (1.4.1) for the non Ambient version of the WS2000 console which in the Fine Offset world is known as HP2550/2551
You can find the firmware to flash here:
http://www.ecowitt.com/upfile/201904/V1.4.1.rar

I understand its a primarily performance update although I note there are differences to the display.

If you look carefully though you can see the additional sensors now have the signal levels displayed.
If you have multiple Hygro/temp sensors as I do then the signal level changes as the sensors cycle through on the display.
As has been noted the signal level is not a true signal level but a signal loss indicator as with most digital systems. ie if the signal bars are not full then this means the console is occasionally missing a data packet. The observant among you will see that my PM2.5 sensor does not have full signal bars so I will have to look into that!

On the whole this is a good improvement though it does not yet provide the console an upload to ecowitt.net yet which is in the pipeline for future releases.
For the Ambient folks I guess you can use this as a taster for your consoles which will get this flavour of release soon I expect!
PS. should have dusted the console before the photo!

The PM2.5 is the one without the full bars not the soil sensor. I think you just need to give it a few more minutes. The bars increase at the rate of 1 bar per update cycle. I think the PM2.5 is at a lower update cycle than other sensors.

Also the Ambient WS-2000 already got this update. Only thing that is missing is the release of the PM2.5.

When you said that Ecowitt.net upload is not yet available, we're you checking the console or were you checking in the WS View app? Or did you check both places? With Ambient for example on the WS-2000 the upload to WeatherCloud is only available to be set via the app and not via the display console.

Thanks for sharing.

oops, my bad. I have updated the original post.
I have noticed since the photo has taken that it varies in value and is now full strength.
It might also be temperature dependant on the sensor as it was a cold clear night and temp got down to near freezing which might affect the rechargeable cells in the PM2.5 sensor.

The ecowitt.net upload option is not listed in either the console or the Ws-View app or at least not the production version.
I do have a beta of 1.4.6 to test today so I will see if that's any different though to be fair to FO/Ecowitt they did tell me that they did not plan to have this option the HP2551 display until a May firmware update.

I'm hoping we can get the soil sensor.

New to this site and to weather.  Hubby is thinking of upgrading current system.  Wants a display unit that will display 8 sensors.  Also wants to be able to check remotely.  Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It would be beneficial to know what the current system is to make sure compatibility with old data and databases is preserved. Just because you need a new system doesn't mean you should throw the entire old system out. In some cases sure, but often there are workable parts that work across brands. In some cases perhaps you may want to maintain the existing manufacturer's services (Weatherlink.com, myAcurite.com, Ambientweather.net).

What is the current old system brand/model?
What additional hardware if any is used (Meteobridge, Data logger adapters, sensors) ?
What additional software if any is used (Weather-Display, WeatherCat, WeeWx, Cumulus, VWS...etc.)?
What type of computer is used for said software (Windows, MacOS, Linux)?

Also where is the current station publishing data to? Just Weather Underground?... or others likes CWOP, PWSweather, WeatherCloud, etc. And are there any new requirements?

Lastly... What is your budget?
