I had three rain events, the first two, my cheapo Acurite 5-in-1 was spot on with the CoCoRaHS. The last rain event, the acurite under reported 0.01. I see the reason why the CoCoRaHS Gauge is the preferred method for accurate Precipitation.

Being off by .01 is not bad. Was it a heavy rain or a light one?

Friday night was Medium/Heavy but short 0.12in, Saturday Morning was light/Medium 0.07in and Saturday Night was light with .003 in the CoCoRaHS and .002in Reported from the Acurite. I'm pretty sure just a few more drops would have tripped the bucket.

Generally speaking tipping bucket rain gauges are more accurate during light rains.
It's when you get the real down pours that you'll see a discrepancy.
