how do I now make weather underground default? it says "forecast unavailable" when I make it default but works if I select it from dropdown menu

Just checked your site and it is set to default and works fine so I guess it was just caching issue which solved itself after the cache expired and was reloaded.

The ecForecast block is also a good alternative forecast to display on your Homepage.

Is it possible to add the "ecForecast" in the "forecast" block as a pull down option along with the existing WU, Yahoo and yr.no?  As you know, I've gone the better way and that is by showing them both!

I see your point Paul. Currently it is not possible, but theoretically yes it is possible. I guess my original thinking was that if I include it there I would then also have to include the NWS forecast there and all the other ones I potentially make in the future. This means that each user would then have to download scripts for all the other services. Although it is possible to disable them in the settings they are still part of the block scripts so my original idea was that you can have the "global ones" - WU, Yahoo, yr.no and then one additional which is specific to your region, if such block is available. But I might reconsider this.

Thanks Jachym, and your approach makes sense.  The initial thought was that it would be less effort with one Block instead of two, but thinking about it further I personally like the way it is now.

Yes, it is all sortable already, but I am in the process of rewriting the network code to offer more features than what is currently available. Just didn't have time to finish it yet

Yes Jachym ...it is...we get this cold every year in late january/mid febuary 

this one was below normal...it was in 2014   ... it dropped to -43c on this thermometer but it was -38.2 on the davis

Not as cold as Carl but we do seem to get our coldest temps in mid-February that goes with the usual bright sunshine, unless that Lake Effect snow starts blowing our way.  This year there is little freeze-over of the Great Lakes http://ice-glaces.ec.gc.ca/prods/NAIS25ESD/20160213180000_NAIS25ESD_0008711492.pdf unlike last year when they were all 100% frozen.  Those open waters on Lake Huron and north western winds can add a bit of excitement to winter and driving conditions...
 
I see even Bill in MB is much warmer than we are, and that is usually the other way around.

at that temperature,everything craks,snap n pop... we ca hear the nails on the gallery snapping..and sometimes we get ice quake...when theres a good amount of ice on the road

OK, well here we normally get min around -20, not less, in the mountains you can have less obviously, this yr I think the record minimum so far was -35 C. But that really is in the mountains. I have been measuring since 2012, so very short series, plus I live in a city center of the second largest town in the country. So my absolute minimum so far has been -16.4. Overall, the absolute minimum temperature ever recorded in the Czech Republic is -42.2. But we get close to that relatively often, 2 yrs ago it was -41 at one of the stations in the mountains.

I myself have probably never experienced less than -20, I don't know exactly, it must have been at a time I did not care about weather that much and did not have a PWS.

Still though, it is nothing compared to the Russian Oymyakon

Hi guys,

two new blocks are now available for download.

Meteogram

I think the name of the block is pretty much self-explanatory. This block will draw a meteogram showing the upcoming 48h forecast for the location you specify, using data from yr.No. The script takes into account your Meteotemplate design settings, units, language and also timezone.

News Feed

This block allows you to place a news feed on your site, where you can for example add updates of what is new on the homepage etc. There is a separate page, where you can directly add/delete items using a GUI and your admin password. Instructions on how to do this are given in the settings.php. Once there is more items than can fit to the block display, they will automatically slide down.

No, this is your feed.

Btw. if you have already downloaded the files, there might be a problem on some servers with restricted permissions. If you experience any problems with loading the forecast data, just re-download the block files, I fixed it. Likewise with the newsFeed, I noticed a problem on some servers, so that should now be fixed as well, just re-download and replace everything, including the settings.php.
