Oh IBM your so funny !!
« on: July 20, 2019, 11:45:32 AM »
Isn't it funny how IBM owner of Weather Underground and the The Weather Channel ( site Weather.com ) will not use the decimal point for WU BUT will use our info with the decimal point for there other site Weather.Com . So when we see say 70 degrees the other site will show 70.4 degrees . If they can do it for one why not do it for both sites ?

My area one map from WU and the other from WC . Same stations reporting but only one using the decimal points .

I can understand not showing decimal precision on the WU map when showing the wind direction and speed. This way the temperature digits are larger and easier to read. This way they can show more stations that are nearby also. So rounding is okay on this view on the map. The problem for me is in the rest of the dashboard "Current Conditions" and there displaying this horrible rounding.

The Wundermap does have a temperature only mode and there showing the decimal precision would make sense.

I think the point is that they ARE processing decimals in the Weather.com map API but aren't giving them to us.

Well I think most of us seasoned WU users know that they ARE processing decimals as was evident for the past few months when the old WU site and the new WU site were simultaneously available. We don't need to see evidence of decimals on TWC site to know that it is possible. I've stated the following several times in other threads that the reason there are no decimals was a purposeful decision by WU higher ups because they felt weather station accuracy was limited and that it was pointless to show more precision. I got it from the horse's mouth, this is not conjecture. To which I've said that they don't know the difference between accuracy and precision.

Interesting... decimal places only show in Fahrenheit and not Celsius.
