Among the hundred or so I took last night during the fading sunlight into the three twilights, I have two of the same area that are spectacular due to the time exposure, and the colors of the sky that appear darker blue than what my eyes can see.
The other amazing thing about the cloud to the left is that the radar and lightning data showing the nearest edge of the storm to me was just over Wisconsin Dells, which is approx. 115 miles, straight line. Again, with good clear air the distances were stunning; I thought that maybe 60 miles on a good evening, but there is solid facts behind these estimates, with no intervening storms that I could have mistaken these for. An acquaintance who owns an FM station that his dad started and is an independent has its 300' tower on a hill approximately 20 miles north of my place, and he routinely sees LaCrosse, WI which is at least 80 miles distant and their transmitting tower lights on a good night if he's up on his tower doing work. And to think that most of the time I thought the light golden haze on the meadow restricted visibility.
