Davis AeroCone bucket vs manual
« on: May 16, 2019, 04:40:52 PM »
I recently updated my VP2 ISS to a new one with the Aerocone rain bucket. Up until today all rain events with the new unit have been light and compared favorably with my manual CoCoRaHS gauge and 8 inch. Today we had a line of storms come through with intense rain and gusty winds that peaked here at 31 mph. Not much for a total amount but my rain rate peaked at 9 inches/hr. Totals were VP2...0.47, CoCoRaHS...0.46, and 8 inch...0.48. Pretty happy with those results! I'll have to see if that consistency holds true for future events.
