Many thanks for the animated forecast gifs.

However, in an unrelated matter to this forecast script, links on the forecast page it produces are bad, for instance, the ones for "Hazardous Weather Outllook" and "Short Term Forecast".  In other words the link that goes to "Hazardous Weather Outlook" look like this:  http://www.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?warnzone=OKZ020&warncounty=OKC119&firewxzone=OKZ020&local_place1=Stillwater+OK&product1=Hazardous+Weather+Outlook    Maybe it's a problem at their end.

Also the 2nd home page using modified AltDashboard 6.95 at http://stillwaterweather.com/2ndhome.php

Yes, the NWS website stopped answering those links via www.weather.gov, and now only has them on forecast.weather.gov.

The advforecast2.php script was updated 5-Oct-2011 to that effect and is available via the template updates page or from the scripts page.

There seems to be a missing icon for "Falling Temperatures".

Also the 2nd home page using modified AltDashboard 6.95 at http://stillwaterweather.com/2ndhome.php

The daytime version of fog.gif   should be renamed to fg.gif

Still really cool icons

Hi,

I just downloaded the new animated icons. What do I do next? I have read through everything but am not sure what the next steps are. Is there some step by step instructions. I appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks.

You'll need to be using advforecast2.php V3.02 - 05-Oct-2011 for support for the forecast icons from Meteotriviglio.

Install the icon set in your forecast/images/ directory.

Add to your Settings.php
Code: [Select]
$SITE['fcsticonstype'] = '.gif'; and the icons will be used for the forecast ones.

The alternative dashboard may have another method to set the condition icon to the animated gif.

Hope this helps...

Ken

Summer time and I see that there is no "partly cloudy hot" icon for wxsim or either I have missed an icon update. Anybody else see this?

As far as I've checked, the Meteotreviglio set includes all the .gif images corresponding to the .jpg images.

You can use this script to check your current forecast/images .jpg files for corresponding .gif file names in the same directory.

Code: [Select]
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<title>Icon Checker</title>
</head>

<body style="font-family:'Trebuchet MS', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: black;background-color:white;">
<h2>Current icons</h2>
<table>
<tr>
<th>File Name</th>
<th>File Size</th>
<th>GIF file</th>
<th>GIF file exists?</th>
</tr>
<?php
$ourTZ
"PST8PDT";
# Set timezone in PHP5/PHP4 manner

if (!function_exists('date_default_timezone_set')) {
putenv("TZ=" $ourTZ);
# $Status .= "<!-- using putenv(\"TZ=$ourTZ\") -->\n";

} else {
date_default_timezone_set("$ourTZ");
# $Status .= "<!-- using date_default_timezone_set(\"$ourTZ\") -->\n";

}

$imgDir './forecast/images/';

$flist glob($imgDir '*.jpg');

   foreach (
$flist as $filename) {
   $gifName preg_replace('|\.jpg|','.gif',$filename);
   $gifExists file_exists($gifName)?'Yes':'<b>NO</b>';
   echo "<tr><td>$filename</td>\n";
   echo "<td align=\"right\">".filesize($filename)."</td>\n";
   echo "<td>$gifName</td>\n";
   echo "<td>$gifExists</td>\n";
   echo "</tr>\n";
   }

?>

</table>

</body>
</html>

You can see the results on my site at http://saratoga-weather.org/check-icon-set.php

BTW.. there is only a 'hot' icon, and a partly-cloudy icon set, but no 'partly cloudy hot' icon per se.
The next time it happens, position the cursor over the missing icon, and select 'View image' to see the full URL of what image was missing (or just do a view-source on the page itself and look at the the <img /> statement to find the image)

Ken

Ken, finally the missing icon was called for again. You were right and the script was calling for "hot.jpg". All the others are called as "blah.gif. I changed the name from hot.gif to hot.jpg. Wonder why this is the only image, that I have noticed, that is calling for .jpg? Here is the page link if you have the chance to look at it before a new forecast is run.

As always thanks for the help, Doug

Ahh.. I see the problem.  The icon type wasn't being used for the 'hot' icon .. just .jpg assumed.

Change
Code: [Select]
  if($WXSIMheatidx[$i] >= $showHotIconF or $WXSIMhumidex[$i] >= $showHotIconC) {
  $WXSIMicon[$i] = 'hot.jpg';
to
Code: [Select]
  if($WXSIMheatidx[$i] >= $showHotIconF or $WXSIMhumidex[$i] >= $showHotIconC) {
  $WXSIMicon[$i] = 'hot'.$iconType;

I'll have to adjust that for the next release of plaintext-parser.php
