Nws alerts
« on: December 11, 2015, 07:06:36 AM »
I was wondering how to get my alerts to be more organized like how cospringswx has his. Like say for example special weather statement followed by the counties instead of listing the counties and next to each one saying SWS. Thanks

Hi Mike,
I will be a bit OT, but I wanted to see how they are currently organized and unfortunately, your page again has not loaded within 30 seconds and I just got the timed out error... tried 5 times...

Open the file nws-alerts-config.php
Find this setting:
Code: [Select]
$sortbyEvent   = 0;            // sort titles by severity in alert box & then by number listed below

Change the zero to a 2 or 3
Save the file and upload it.
The change will go into effect the next time nws-alerts.php is ran.

Im at work using wifi in another county and it loads fine for me. Loads about 12 seconds and I had several people try it too. Odd.. Maybe my host blocks ip from other countries idk if it does it's stupid ..

Now it did! So it is not an IP block, but I looked at the console:

It took 16s before the server started communicating and sending data at all and then it took furthe 38s to load all the images one by one... really odd

You mean price for hosting? I always recommended 1and1, two friends of mine have it and first yr you pay just 99 cents a month! It has everything - PHP, MySQL, unlimited storage, 20GB db space, 1 free domain and runs lightning fast. Then after one yr it is I think 5/month, but the thing is - you don´t have to continue the plan, so one yr gives you enough time to test it and then decide if you want to continue or not. And 12 dollars for the first yr really is nothing and there is even 30 day money back guarantee in case you want to cancel right away you get everything back:

https://www.1and1.com/web-hosting

Ideal for one-year testing purposes...

Great price to start but after the first 12 months they want 6.99 a month and for the year 83.88 plus tax.. Can't do that at the moment. Wish I could tho..

I know but what I meant is - just pay 12 dollars now and you will have a yr to test all the things with regards to your site and then, decide whether you want to continue with all this at all and if so, find a different host - switching hosts and mirroring files is a matter of a few minutes....

As far as I know the above deal does not bind you to continuing afterwards. It renews automatically, but I think you can withdraw any time before the yr expires if you want to.

And I am sure others here could recommend you other cheap hosting services, for meteotemplate.com I use a very good one, but it is a Czech one, so I guess it wont be ideal for you.
