MovieSalsa Scheduler Basics
« on: March 23, 2010, 05:58:05 PM »
I've got ImageSalsa to copy jpeg images every 2 minutes from the canvas into a new, dated folder everyday using the schedule directory script. Could someone instruct me a little on the use of the scheduler in MS? I would like to automate the making of the time lapse from the existing files every 24 hours. I did search this forum for some clues but nothing that helped. Many thanks. Cheers.

Here is a link to a document that was created by a member of the Ambient community several years ago.  Wayne has since passed away but it really helped me get my movies to create.

Jay,
Thanks for the link. I remember this many moons ago when I set my IS and MS scripts up..

Thank you very much for that pdf. It is very well done. Just what I needed.

Couple of questions:

Does MS need to stay running or can the scheduler call MS to open and start?

Which compression codec to choose? I notice that there's no H.264 listed.

Jim,

You are very welcome.

mmoon,

I keep MS running.  I never tried without it going all the time.  I guess old habits don't die easy.  I also don't use any compression.  Full frame.

Hope that helps,

I heard back from Jason at IS and he said that only the scheduler needs to stay open. It will open and close MS after it's finished.

I went ahead with the wms conversion option using the batch file that the pdf author used. Seems to work and produces a very small file compared to the avi. Not sure about how non-IE users will feel that they'll need the plugin for that, but perhaps it's not a big deal?
