Clarity is awesome. Still waiting for the beta test. The last update I have from them is that they will start the beta program this month.

Hi,

Like the clarity also. Is it possible to Hubble Cam fix a Foscam FI8905W. If so, what are the recommendations?

Thanks.

You could try it but I believe the Foscam is already focused for distant subjects.  The idea of the Hubble mod is to take a near-sighted webcam, a camera that normally has a focus range of only a few feet in front of it, and modify it so that it's focus point is much farther away, maybe infinity.

Here is the first post of the Hubble Fix thread that explains it:  http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=19044.0

So, you could try it, but I'm not sure that your results will be worth it.  It could possibly make the image quality worse.  The good thing is that it is not a permanent fix (unless you want it to be). :)  Does your present setup seem out of focus?

FYI... noted on Amazon today... Loggie C910 Pros $119... I think they're consumer packaging... that's the 5MP version, hopefully, not B910. Last batch I got ahold of (4 was all they had) were brown box cam only 'oem' kit extras.... think I paid $80 ea.  Be a good time, since they're out of production, if you want a great USB cam that a lot of us use with a -2 diopter lens.

Checked your cam's specs, as Ed says, I don't think it would be worth the effort. Folks haven't had much luck with wireless and some other IP cams... just doesn't improve things to the extent they do with those designed for 'near' webcamming.  Wait around, somebody will post it if they've done it. We do have a Logitech 'Alert' POE on the HubbleCam page, however, but I'm not sure of the specs on that device. Looks good, though!

Cashmere Weather Live - Christchurch, New Zealand.

Updated once per minute, 24 hours per day.

Canon G9 - Using chdk to capture 1 photo per minute. Photo is transferred with Eye-FI SD Card to computer. Custom software then processes the image adds the weather data and uploads to a server in Singapore in Azure.

Thought I'd add one of my weather cams.  It's a Vivotek FE8171V 360 degree fisheye.  Mounted on the roof of my house (I'm located in Toronto), it gives a decent 360 image.  I use BlueIris to grab the image, add the overlay, and Imagemagick to generate a panoramic view from the 360 degree image.

My other webcam images (one Hikvision, one Raspberry Pi Cam, and three different Chinese IP cameras) can be found here

I have been using a cheap IP camera, a REPOTEC RP-WV330, for over 30 months now and submitting solely to Weather Underground, although the image is picked up from there and displayed on five other webcam sites, as well as my own weather oriented site.

The image isn't nearly as good as I have seen from other cameras on this thread.  It is actually designed for internal use (not even supposed to use it for pointing outside) but so far, touch wood, I have had no problems and it has been working continuously throughout that period.

It is not intended as a night camera and, as it is close up to the window, at night all you will see is the reflection of the device's indicators on the window.

That reminds me of the Carbonite Maneuver:

You're right.  I thought he only posted a picture.  I guess it's a updating image.  I'll fix that tonight.

Steve,

Awesome picture from an awesome camera. I really like mine.

I'm still working on getting the right software to stream mine with.

I wish I had brought the 5501 down with me. The electricians didn't get around to getting them installed before we left for my parents.

Using 2 Olympus C4000z camera's (outside Mount). For enclosures, I have a cheap $5 home depot plastic bathroom trashbin which is turned upside down. I cut a small hole in side to fit lens through. The other camera is mounted under the eave and is generally in a rain shadow as storm wind direction is almost always from the opposite side of house. The Olympus C4000z has proved to be incredibly reliable and resistant to weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, windy). I have  replaced a few over the last 5 years which I consider amazing considering the beating these things take. I order used inexpensive spares (under $30) when I can from Amazon sellers or eBay so I can hot swap them out as they fail.

Using VM95 for camera control and Movie Salsa (now Free) for time lapse. Also use Fling FTP to auto transfer time lapse videos as they are created. Images are taken every 5 min during day and 15 min at night.

For time lapse and full webcam page click link.
