RAM and memory
« on: January 20, 2019, 04:57:53 PM »
I was reading the recent posts today and ran across this statement:

Quote
The WS-2000 has 16MB of internal flash storage

I remember back in the 1980s that I had a Mattel Intellivision (picture below).  It had very limited memory:  524B RAM, 932B graphics RAM, 7168B ROM  I loved that game.  I played Bump and Jump, and Dungeons and Dragons.  They came out with a new module that would add voices to the games, and new games with 1980s computer voices.  I think they had to add the module because the memory couldn't support the voice.  I can still hear the voice saying, "B-17 Bomber!"

I had one of the Tandys from Radio Shack and tried programming in Basic.

I remember my first real desktop computer.  It had a 1.2 GB hard drive and 32 MB RAM.  I remember thinking to myself, "I'll NEVER use 32 MB of RAM!"  Of course, AOL 2.5 was on a 3 1/2 floppy disc, too.  At 14.4kbs dialup.

"MARCY   Al, what you're overlooking is all the things this model can do. [pats one of the boxes]
This is a muscle machine. It's fully loaded. It has a 3600 baud modem, a VGA high-
resolution color monitor, a 40MB hard disk, and 7MB of RAM. [to Steve, sensuously] Steve,
        it's the you of computers."

8 kb RAM in my 1977 Commodore Pet 2001 which I bought used in 1980 and still have it.  It came with a cassette full of games.
