Lightning strikes a plane on runway

I saw this on TV recently. I found it interesting that the lightning strike hit the fuselage and not the tail, especially close to the tail.

That's really interesting. I just wanted to know if there was any way it could be ascertained whether the lightning is positive cloud to ground one or the negative cloud to ground one?

I'm wondering if that asphalt breakup is where there plane's wheels were. First photo shows the connection to ground.

Dan, this was a tarmac strike in Louisville KY that scared the bejeezus out of some guys nearby... no other objects involved
