Sabotage by another satellite.
Sunday, December 6th, the rogue Galaxy 15 satellite has knocked out the NOAAport feed as it passed/drifted just in front of satellite SES-1, which is where the broadcast is sent from. By passing in front of SES-1, it's blocking the uplink/downlink signal to and from it.http://support.allisonhouse.com/entries/348780-december-3-5-2010-nws-partial-total-data-outage-updatedGalaxy 15 has been out of commission (and drifting) since April 5 after getting zapped by a solar storm. It's been causing problems since as it floats through the RF transmission and reception footprint of other satellites.
Kind of a scary reminder of how fast the sun if it decided to shakes things up a bit could shut down the world's electrical and electronic systems both on ground and in the skies above.
Edit, Also listening to NOAA this morning they said at 10:00am at Port Columbus International Airport, no data available.
That is a real rarity for them. Turns out I think even the airport metar transmissions were involved.
