I've tried for the past couple of hours to get into the Weather Watch website but get a consistent error message. I haven't been on the site for a week or so.
-
Checking http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/weather-watch.com.html (http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/weather-watch.com.html) shows the site is down for everyone, not just me.
-
you just need to wait until Chris the admin is awake (its night time for him currently in the UK)

I believe Chris lives in New Zealand, not the UK...
-
no, that is not correct
(and I would know as I met him in the UK)

Okay, I guess you are correct - sorry...

I sent Chris (in the UK) a message.. he's asleep now and should see it when he's awake.

Thanks Ken. I also noticed that the isitdownrightnow.com website shows the site has been down more than a week. Can't believe it's actually been down that long without someone noticing it.

Possible downtime
« on: November 10, 2017, 08:12:34 PM »
I've done something very silly and deleted some important files required to keep the server running #-o #-o To make matters worse I've just checked my backups and the files don't seem to have been in the backup set
Given time I'm sure I can rebuild them, but if the server crashes or the web server restarts then it won't come back up again until I fix the problem. The forum should stay up, working on copies of the files in memory, so keep your fingers crossed that it stays that way until I rebuild things. If the worst happens the forum will be down until I finish the rebuild.
Sorry!
Chris

I think normality has been restored. In some ways it's a bit better than it was before because the Apache web server has now been re-installed with the config files completely re-written so they're a lot tidier than they used to be. That's not what I intended though and I've lost too many hours of my weekend fixing it. As a warning to anyone who uses Linux...beware of 'rm -rf *'
-
yes . might have been a downstream effect from that problem in the weekend
it is back up now though
