The NWS has a .kml radar generator for Google Earth at http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ridge/kmzgenerator.php .

With it, you can overlay NEXRAD on Goggle Earth and then pan/tilt/zoom it. This pic is from October 20th, when I first found out about it.

Here's this morning's California NEXRAD composite radar on Google Earth, tilted down a bit, and reduced in size.

Nice Find! Definitely better then TWC.
Now they need to add animation.

TWC's version seems to zoom much better than the GE earth one.  Its so nice in the lower 48 today, its hard to get a good feel for it 8)

I was hoping for clouds with elevations, like the terrain, so you could tilt down and see the cloud profile.

Without 3D data that wouldn't bee possible.  Someone would have to write a software program for that. I know GR3 uses Google maps but I don't think they have 3D images either.
Now that I think of it there is a company that has 3D sat images. I can't think of it right now but I have seen them before.

GR3 doesn't... but GRAE does... of course, it would take a super computer to do the whole US in realtime.

Elevation data can be inferred from the cloud temps, I believe.

At least for our area, the local.live maps are significantly older than GE, mid 90s, vs 2004, could be 10 years. On each of the photos below, our house is just above the "2006" at the bottom center.

I noticed the Microsoft's maps were much older.  My house was moved to its present location January 2005.  At least Google maps shows it where it is now just before the roof was replaced in the summer of 2005.  Microsoft maps doesn't even show the area being graded, and the subdivision that has been just north of this location for several years barely shows the beginning of a couple dirt streets.
