I heard that rainfall can be measured by ultrasound. Does anyone know?

Yes ;)
raffaello.dimartino:
Yes you can use the ultrasound to measure the water level. If you have a simple manual raingauge and you measure the level with ultrasound, you can have the rain accumulation measured automatically.
If you have a system that automatically opens the gauge when the rain event finishes, then you have a self-empty, ultrasound rain gauge.
