Here are a few photos from the KSPL site at Isla Blanca County Park at the south end of South Padre Island, Texas. The station is, obviously, in the RV campground and close to the emergency heliport at the left of the panorama. I am not at all sure what the four(4) white cones/whatever you call them at the right base of the tower. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.
Unfortunately the station is currently off line as far as data is concerned. Its my understanding the City of South Padre Island owns the station and contracts maintenance out to a third party in Houston, Texas. It, in my experience, takes them a long time to get the station back online at times.

My guess would be an ultrasonic wind speed sensor for the 4 cones.

When I was last a field tech for the USAF and NWS we still had these type transmissometers. Talk about dating myself... 8-)

I ran across this page a bit ago concerning old USAF weather equipment which I worked on back in the day, eg. 1967-1971. GMQ-10 transmissometer, GMQ-20 winds, TMQ-10 temp/dew point, GMQ-13 ceilometer, the first computer I ever was exposed to the FMN-1 RVR computer and the CPS-9 radar I worked on in the Panama Canal Zone. Brings back a lot of memories.
