KVC Hosting Down
« on: September 14, 2017, 01:52:06 PM »
KVC Hosting, my provider,  is down throughout, including even its website.  Problem  is that a fiber optic cable in Oklahoma was damaged causing the outage.  It's hoped to be fixed by end of the day.  Fortunately, it hit when the weather here continues with another day of being dry, warm, clear and beautiful.

Statement from company:

KVCHOSTING is currently experiencing downtime due to our ISP's fiber outage in Oklahoma City. The ISP has found the location of the outage and is working to restore with an ETR of 5:00 pm CST (Central Standard Time).

This happen due to major construction that happening in Oklahoma City downtown. This also impacted other major companies.
We apologize for all the inconvenience and they are working to replace the fiber optic as quickly as possible.

Shouldn't a server farm/hosting service have redundant connections to the outside world?

Probably so, I don't know.  Anyway, service is back on now.  I haven't backed up my files in a while, so I need to get on that.
