Weather Cam and Meteobridge
« on: April 09, 2017, 07:33:50 AM »
I want to install a weather camera to report to Weather Underground with my Acurite and Meteobridge system.  The MB network page shows a "Ubiquiti version 1.1" camera as one of two recognized options.  I cannot locate that camera anywhere.  For those of you running Meteobridge with an outdoor weather cam, what brand are you using and where did you buy it?

The camera that works with Meteobridge is called a "Ubiquity Air Cam."  I think Ubiquity has replaced the "Air Cam" with a new model.  You can still find the "Air Cam" for sale though - for around $100.

Thanks, Gardengrub!  Have ordered the camera and we will see if I'm smart enough to get it up and running.

ANY camera that  can post to a URL will work.  I am using a couple different ones.  Stardot, D-Link and some USB ones that I manually FTP up images.  The Ubiquiti is just Boris' favorite I guesss.  :)

1. The Ubiquiti is addressed by Meteobridge itself and Meteobridge will fetch the jpg for you.
2. Other webcams which have a http address to grab a jpg can be used by entering the snapshot link such as http://192.68.0.xx/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi?loginuse=abc&loginpas=defghij
These links are different for every camera make, most webcams have such a link but not all.
3. All camera's which can upload a jpg with a static name can be used also. You have to enter the local or remote address of that image http:192.168.0.xxx/image.jpg
Sorry to say, but is seems that more and more webcams only allow ftp uploads with a time stamp in the name,  such as imageYYYYMMDDhhmmss.jpg
Those uploads can not be processed by Meteobridge.

Good catch on the static name issue.  I've run into that before (another app) and had to write a script to convert a time-stamped image to a static name.  Maybe Boris could modify the  program to accept the latest stamped image?  FWIW, all my Dlink cams offer an option for static or dynamic time stamped images.
