Here, March is living up to  its reputation as a very windy month.   This afternoon, my anemometer recorded it's highest gust for 2017.  It's 41 mph.

Yep, same here...got 40mph this afternoon.  I'm also waiting on a new anemometer; my first sensor replacement since I purchased the VP2 in May of 2013.  I can't find any breaks in the cable but the direction is stuck at north.  Wind speed works fine.  Taking a multimeter across the red/green wires gave me 0 ohms so I guess there's a short somewhere in the length of the cable.

Attached is the squall line headed for us.  Looks like you barely missed out Bunty.  My weather radio has been going nuts for an hour now.

Picked up 1/2" snow and 40 mph winds in town as cold front moved through. My Wx station outside of town had a gust to 50 mph.

Another radar look at the storm.  It started apparently just a few miles southeast of me. Saw lightening from it while on the way home from dinner at Chili's.  The only WU station in the path of the storm, Cushing, only got .02" from it.  It surely escaped the black dot.  Meantime,   a red flag warning is out today.  It's a good thing the wind isn't blowing as much as yesterday.

Looks like our (arid-zona) SPRING done SPRUNG the scene, as we're headed for almost 90ºF (already) when the "normal" high is only 71ºF!
Don't forget we hit 89F almost a month ago, 68 the norm. Difference this time is the mid to upper 80's will hang around. :-D

One man's ridge is another man's trough. It'll be continue to be mid to upper 90's here as far as the progged eye can see, while there's freeze warnings for the entire deep south. Wow.

For that matter, I wouldn't be half surprised if the local WFO puts out an "excessive heat watch" for the weekend, especially Sat.

0.8" of snow is not a "dusting" to us southerners ;) that's enough to close schools for a day in the South! A dusting for us is when snow is visibly lying on the ground, but too light to measure  :-)

We broke the consecutive streak for 90F+ days in March yesterday at 6. Still piling on, briefly hit 96F today, Mon. and Tue. still to go before a trough swings through Thur. for a 20F cool down, where we should be.

Currently already 15.7°C (60°F) here in Northern Germany, two days had already surpassed 19°C (66°F) yet and the forecast for tomorrow shows highs up to 70°F (21°C).
It has been an unusually warm March here for sure, with no air frosts either (lowest minimum was 1.1°C (34°F)). Feels more like late April.

Best Regards

Georg

It went up to 22.2°C (72°F) at my station yesterday afternoon, so it was very close (just one degree F/ 0.5°C) to a new station record.
Larger parts in Northern Germany (even the islands, except for Heligoland) had highs between 21 and 24°C (70-75°F),
but the hottest temperature was recorded in Bavaria at the Kitzingen weather station with 25.6°C (78°F).

These are exceptional temperatures for late March, the average daytime temperatures at this time of the year in Germany are hovering about 10°C (50°F).
However it can also go into the other direction, just four years ago, we were still in the depth of winter with daytime highs around freezing and night temperatures well below freezing with several inches of snow lying even in the lowlands.

Best Regards

Georg
