WeeWx vs Cumulus MX
« on: September 14, 2015, 01:51:50 AM »
As a side project sometime in the near future, I'd like to get one of the Pi's (Raspberry, Orange, etc.) and I'd like to ask those who have knowledge of WeeWx and Cumulus MX to offer any insights on comparisons between the two in terms of features/functionality, known issues, etc. I know MX is still in Beta, so it may not be all that stable yet, but welcome your suggestions regarding either. Thanks.

Well I cant speak for Cumulus but I have used the WeeWx app and its awesome, rock solid, and very stable.
The developer is very active, and there is a plugin to convert weewx output to Weather Display compatible format.

I used it for may years before I switch to a turnkey solution.

Thanks for the info. I also have a Vantage VUE. I took a look at your site and noticed this picture:

My connection setup consists of the  VUE Console -> Bellfryboy Logger -> TP-Link MR3020 (Meteobridge) -> Home Network

It looks like your setup using Meteohub on the Pi is also using the MR3020 as well. Is that the case?

Skyview,

That's right I use both. I have the MR3020 which its setup with a Meteostick and than the Meteohub pulling from the  USB Console Logger... Both pull from my Vue.

I just posted an update to my setup.

Since both are pulling from the same ISS not really sure what you are using them for. Does it have to do with the flight radar? The stick gets the data directly from the ISS if I remember right.

Yes the meteostick pulls data directly from the ISS.
Is use the meteobridge to upload to services that are not available on meteohub, IE: Twitter, WeatherCloud, etc...

Interesting. I admit I don't know much of anything about Meteohub but kind of thought it would support most of what Meteobridge does. Good to know.
