Title: Sharx HD Cameras
Post by: Jumpin Joe on March 20, 2017, 07:29:16 PM
I have purchased several Sharx cameras over the last few years and I am VERY happy with the quality, images and support of their cameras.

Based on some feed back I provided them... they sent me an email that I 'd like to share with members of the WXForum.

Joe, thanks so much for your feedback

We’ll extend the $200 discount on all professional cameras to your friends as well

On the HTNC4420PTZ PTZ camera we’ll also add a free $100 wall bracket or recessed ceiling mount

Best Regards,
Sharx Security

I know the cameras they are offering the discount on are not inexpensive, but I do believe they are worth it, especially with the offered discount. I recently purchased the HTNC4404M.

If you want to take advantage of the offer, mention Joe (www.joesweather.info) in an email to them.

You can see your own cameras on inside network. Lots involved displaying to outside world.

Try looking at your camera with your Mac or iPad when it is not connected to your own network.

Whats a little odd about the Sharx Security site they really only have 1 contact form with no place to ask questions. No phone number either. Odd way of running camera business.
I read in one review these cameras are not IP66 rated was the main drawback so not water proof even outside units are only resistant and they seem to be out of stock on the cheaper IP cameras even though site says in stock. After adding to cart through paypal out of stock.  Also none available on Amazon so wonder if company is folding.

No cams at none of their dealers.  Too bad - they looked decent.

Have you e-mailed them at customerservice@sharxsecurity.com?

I have 10 of their cameras (various models/vintages from SCNC2700 to SCNC3924) and whenever I e-mail them I usually get a response within an hour or two (even early on Sunday mornings).  I last contacted them about a month ago about some settings issues and the response was prompt and helpful.

My suspicion is that it's a one man operation (just a guess).  But he's very helpful and has always fixed my problems right away.

I also noticed that there aren't any more camera stocked on Amazon.  I contacted their e-mail to ask about availability and bought three new model SCNC3924 cameras direct through them using PayPal (at a pretty good price, too).  Cameras showed up quickly.

So far, I have no complaints about their cameras or customer service.  Their website does suck, however.

I filled out the form hours ago and no response yet. The site didn't have a direct contact that I could see the email address was listed here after I tried to contact this morning.

Have you had any issues with water? My main question, I need a camera with a mic to stream on Youtube. The IPtimelapse software requires a mic with camera for some reason. My Stardot Live is melting down at a mere 85F, 29C.

No problems with water.  I have three indoor models and seven outdoor models (in the outdoor housings).  Only one of the outdoor models gets direct rain (lots of it in the Pacific NW) the rest are under eaves.  Never had a problem with water.  The housings are quite robust.  Older models had a long cord with (somewhat) weather-tight connections.  Newer models come with a short cord and the connections are made inside a weather-tight box (see photos below).

I even have two of the older SCNC2700 indoor models mounted outside (under eaves) and they have been outside for 3 or 4 years now without a problem and they are definitely not sealed or made for outdoor use (but they are 640x480 resolution and old so I don't care about them).

Thanks, I was most interested in the SCNC3905 should I get one.

The review I read: https://bestcompany.com/home-security-cameras/company/sharx-security/

Under the bad it says: As convenient as the outdoor camera can be, Sharx Security has unfortunately not yet addressed one of its glaring flaws: the outdoor casing of the camera isn’t waterproof. This makes it very vulnerable and dramatically reduces its usefulness as a sturdy and versatile outdoor unit. You will have to make an additional camera cover purchase if you’d like more flexibility in your camera placement.

The 3904 is just about the same camera as the 3905 without the alarm and audio output connections (I believe).  Also, when I contacted them about buying some more 3904 models they said they were replaced by the 3924 which has much better resolution (you can see a difference if your connection can handle the bandwidth) and can output 30fps at 4096K which is very good.

I have one 3905 and it's bigger than the 3904.  Didn't really need the alarm output but I didn't realize the differences.

He used to participate here as sebeclake. I did get a software update for my camera from Sharx about 2 months ago. I asked via email and it was answered within 1 day.  The same cameras are sold on Amazon under several names. I have a Sharx and a TriVision, the packaging and the logo are the only  obvious difference.

My Sharx is on a porch in full afternoon sun and has worked without problem for 3 summers. I had a game camera on the same porch 2 summers ago and it was showing afternoon temperatures in the 100-110 F range. It is the SCNC3904, the TriVision I have is NC-335PW.

Well, I'm pretty sure the outdoor models are listed as "weather-proof".  Not sure what that really means.  All I can say is I've never had a problem (small sample size) and by looking at the housings...I can't imagine how rain would get in.  I can't say if they could be submerged as there are penetrations on the bottom for the cord but that looks pretty rain-proof too.  Only other place where it could leak may be the glass lens on the front but I've never experienced a problem.

Check the reviews on Amazon for the various outdoor models to see if anyone can corroborate the assertion in that review.

Good info, I don't need the extra bandwidth either nor the alarms. I can only stream at 720, 35 fps or so requires 4Mbps upload speed and i only have 7 on a good day.

Pretty sure  sebeclake is Michael McCormack of Sebectec/IPtimelapse. He does reccomend the Sharx and Hikvisions

You can have settings for three different streams (Pri/Sec/Mobile) and use lower quality settings as necessary.  What I like about the Sharx is the software...very customizable with lots of options.  I also have a Foscam FI9804P which has crappy software.  The software (or firmware) makes a big difference.  Best camera in the world is useless with crappy software.

Couldn't find the Sharx 3905 so ordered the TriVision NC-336PW. Same camera different software. These cameras are P67 rated so fully waterproof. Look foreword to having a mic so if I get it on Youtube with Iptimelapse I'll post link on forum.

Well changed my mind, I'm going to stick with the Hikvisions. Having 7 currently I'm very versed how they operate and perform. I wanted a camera with mic needed for streaming directly to YouTube account. After doing some research found these dome cameras with build in mic DS-2CD2542FWD-IS 4mm. I wanted the 4 mm lens better for weather image vs the fish-eye look with 2.8. Also opted for the wall mount for easier installation.

Hey Joe, did you upgrade to AVG Internet Security recently?  I did and as soon as it was installed, I was no longer able to see my webcams on my website.  I still have not gotten it solved.  Just an idea as to why no one but you can see your cams.

Mark,
No, i did not. Sorry for the slow reply, been out of town.

I do have my new Sharx HTNC4404M on there. It's "Facing SW", The Birdcam is a 3905 and East is a Hikevision. My other Ultra HD Sharx is being used for security along with another 3905. I am using Netcam Studio for all of them now that Netcam has the "ONIVF" on there newest release. Really works great and I really like my Sharx cameras.
