Any help would be appreciated

Which smtp settings are you using? It is very likely that this setup is not correct.

Or a relay denial issue. Some ISPs simply won't allow a redirected/third party email. BTDT

Found this thread after spending a number of hours attempting to configure my Metobridge to send alerts to an e-mail address.
Would anyone happen to have a specific mail service and specific settings utilized to get this working?
I've tried gmail, yahoo mail and my web host mail (1&1) with no luck. Error messages from Metobridge are not that clear.
Thanks in advance!

It works just fine with mine. I am using the ISP settings (ie. smtp.nnnn.com with pwd etc/) Do you have the right port for the security (SSL, TLS etc.)
Failing that, if you have a relay issue then get a free account at SMTP2Go.com Works from everywhere - and I do mean EVERYWHERE.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll take a look at smtp2go.
I tried every combination of ports/security settings with three mail providers with no luck.
Out of curiosity, which e-mail provider are you using?
Thanks again

I use Telus (Canada). That works, as does Gmail and another I use. There must be something weird in your setup or your provider is blocking it. SMTP2GO works behind firewalls, etc. I use it when travelling internationally (in some pretty strange places, too) since I can't relay.

I've had no issue using my 1&1 SMTP or Gmail SMTP. I think because I use SSL so the ISP doesn't block those ports.

Thanks Bushman, I was able to get this working with SMTP2Go!
LABob - good to know that it's working with GMAIL and 1&1, I must have had some incorrect settings, although I thought that I had tested all combinations, including SSL.

Did you use port 587 and TLS for smtp.1and1.com?
-
I believe that I tried that combination, as I used settings as per 1&1:

Will give it another try when I get home tonight.
Thanks!

Glad it worked. SMTP2GO is a great service. I am slowly switching all my IoT devices to it (they are scattered all over North America)

Make sure you're using the whole email address (user@domain.com) of the account you're sending from and the password for that account (not your 1&1 username and password).
