RAINFALL SPIKES on WMR200
« on: August 15, 2012, 09:44:06 AM »
My issues with rainfall spikes continue. You can see them occurring in the graph below. The monthly rainfall amount gets dropped into the daily rainfall amount. This happens pretty much every single day. The data trickles through to my wunderground data. I am running version 14.01p49. with an Oregon Scientific WMR 200

This really has me asking if Virtual Weather Station really supported anymore or has the platform died. Is the WMR 200 not supported?I go to the wiki and it reports that this was fixed in version 14.01p11.

I have been to the Ambient Weather VWS report a problem webpage http://www.ambientweather.com/viwestprre.html only to find there is no form. I have made a couple previous posts to this forum with out any useful answers. Is it time to move to a different software platform and abandon VWS?

Anything, anyone? HELP? #-o

Stu,

Have you tried calling Ed at Ambient.  He has always been very responsive to me on the phone.

one thing maybe
make sure the time and date on the WMR200 is the same as the pc
and set the data logging interva on the wmr200 to 1 minute (actualy thats 2 things)

Thanks for the suggestions.

OK, I selected the "synchronize pc clock to weather station." By data logging rate, did you mean the "Database Settings - Database Timer?" That is set to 1 minute.

We will see if it helps.

I just don't have time during my work day to call Ambient.

For those that understand the lingo, Sierra Sierra, Delta, Delta.

The spikes repeated today with the logging time being set to 1 minute and the clocks being synchronized.

Anymore ideas?

OK, this doesn't make any sense, but the rain gauge stopped reporting to the panel. I changed the batteries, which tested low in the "good" range of my battery tester. Since then, knock on wood, the monthly rainfall hasn't popped into the daily number.

Oh well, today I got a whole month's worth added back in, again. Since help is limited, I guess I will switch to some other software and see if that helps. VWS seems to be a dead-end.

Which is too bad, because it served fairly well for a good while.

I also have an OSI Wmr200 using VWS 15.0, I'm getting my yearly rainfall also posting into my daily rainfall.  This mainly happens on a day when it has rained and also with my past version of VWS.  This has only started with the WMR 200.  Had a WMR 986, but had to replace it with the 200.
